▮ ❛ in the modern week, to @fromspringandfire ❜ ──
In a relationship between sisters, everything should normally work naturally and sincerely, the sisterhood should be greater than anything in this world. Of course, if it were any other family than the Targaryens - who, in Viserra's honest opinion, had been cursed a long time ago due to some act of an ancestor.
It was the only explanation for the complications she was facing on the family front. Or it could just be the guilt eating away at her mind as she stared at her beloved sister, Laena. No doubt it was guilt, but Viserra would never admit it out loud, knowing that it would sink deeper into her sour core.
But that's what she deserved, she was a slut in every sense of the word. What kind of sister had a secret relationship with the guy her only sister liked? Cedric Tyrell was a first-rate rascal, but she couldn't blame him completely, she was part of it too. And even though the first time they got involved, drink could have been to blame, but the other times, Viserra was wide awake, without any outside influence. That's why it was so hard to face Laena as she talked about her encounter with the man.
"So, how was he? Did he say anything about you two finally dating officially?" She asked, biting her tongue as her mind screamed lies "Or was it just another one of his notorious rounds?"
He was genuinely interested in their situation, not because of her, but because he knew Laena liked him. And that sank into her chest, creating the feeling that maybe she should end what she had with Cedric and, with any luck, Laena would never know how many times she ended up in the man's bed.

ooc: Below we finally have the reveal of what truly went on regarding Cedric Tyrell’s family, his life, and his parents. It is the final journal entries written by Lady Eloise Tyrell, Lady of Highgarden during the Dance of Dragons.
TW: domestic abuse, mental abuse, suicide, murder, poison.
The hour was late, and whatever women had filled the space in the bed beside him had slinked back into the shadows of the night as the King of the Reach fixed his gaze upon the canopy above his head. Sleep evaded him this night, slipping in and out of his mind like a ghost; for he knew what day had dawned upon him when the sun rose.
It felt as though the sun would never rise on this day; the one in which all memories of Brightwater’s pearl ended in an ivory and gold shroud being wrapped around her body. How was he supposed to make her laugh by attempting to speak the Brightwater old tongue now?
There were two shrouds, the Lord and Lady of Highgarden; and yet, there was only one Cedric was unable to look away from that day. The tombs of both his parents had remained unvisited since the day of the funeral, and Eloise Tyrell still did not see her beloved son, even in death. For their deaths were seen as utterly twisted, utterly strange; for the two of them to leave this world together, leaving behind their children.
To deny themselves the heavens, for taking their own lives. The Gods did not deserve Eloise Tyrell. It would be she who denied them. “I don’t think mother killed herself...” Words that were sliced at the neck as the Pearl of Highgarden’s crimson blood spilled at her own wedding day, tainting a gown of white. His family was cursed. He was cursed, he knew this.
The movement in which he rolled onto his feet from laying upon his bed was so quick it almost made him dizzy, but he knew in that moment, he needed to do this now. He needed to do this now, or he would toss it into the flames and stop letting it haunt him. Sacrifice it to something bigger than he cared to know.
And finally, the diary was in his hands and away from the bottom of his personal desk, beneath parchment on parchment, letters on letters, petitions on petitions. The man seemed to move and behave in a way that meant his body moved first, and his mind thought after; for if he allowed himself to think, then he would never be able to stop. Or he would stop. He could not stop, not now.
And so, Cedric Tyrell read the thoughts of Brightwater’s pearl in her own unique, slightly scribbly hand. The dead had no privacy, didn’t they? Didn’t she want him to be able to read this? Why else would it have been hidden amongst the rows of books within the Tyrell’s personal library?
BELOW IS A DIARY ENTRY BY LADY ELOISE TYRELL, DATED OCTOBER 10TH, 135AC. It is a draft of a letter to send to her brother, Lord Allun Florent of Brightwater, father of Lord Omer Florent and Lady Rhea Tarly.
My Lord Brother of Brightwater, I implore you to reconsider your rejection of wardship for your nephew. Cedric is sharp in his wit and sharper still with his tongue, and has been raised as a son of Brightwater in his own way. I wish for him to be safe within this world, especially now more than ever. There is none other I would trust with looking over my son but you, my gracious Lord. The concern and insult for Oldtown’s ambitions continuing beyond this war are shared; in this, I assure you, Highgarden and Brightwater remain the most steadfast of allies. No son of Brightwater would be sent to ward with Oldtown; as you have always taught me. Concerns are, very high. A constant priority. A constant thought. Tá amanna is cosúil m'fhear céile as a meabhair. Tá amanna ann is dóigh liom go ndéanfaidh sé dochar dom. I wish for my son to see a piece of what it means to have Florent blood, my Lord - and if this were possible, you would have my utmost and undeniable gratitude. Perhaps my Lord can consider the strengths of having a Tyrell ward; it will give your own noble and virtuous son another to depend on. Má tharlaíonn aon rud dom, le do thoil a ghlacadh mo mhac. Please tell my nephew his aunt thinks of him. I have tried to send him some correspondence, however believe to have yet gotten a response; perhaps it is not getting through for I do not know where to reach him. Guím ort, a thiarna. Deartháir mór. Yours, Lady Eloise of Highgaren. Do dheirfiúr beag.
//
His kiss was one that was intimate and loving, as though they were once again the Pearl of Brightwater and the Lord of Highgarden within the many mazes that surrounded them. Watched them now, it felt like; as it felt like the whole realm watched and whispered of them. As it felt as though the Hightowers watched them, ready to turn their force upon Highgarden should they emerge victorious; to take everything from them.
Her forehead remained against the one of her husband for a moment, and she reached her hand forward to gently rest it upon his beard; closing her eyes. She knew what they needed to discuss, and yet for a moment, she wished to hear of anything but news of the war; wished to feel anything but the sense of impending weight and doom. He still loved her, he still loved her and only her; the Tarly woman meant nothing, and the boy...the boy did not displace her or their three children.
“It’ll all be over soon.” He whispered, moving to quietly stroke his thumb across her cheek; and perhaps if she were not so desperately wishing to feel nothing but his embrace, she would have noted the slight shake in his voice. Tasted something strange on his lips, that no doubt must be some new wine. They remained like that for some minutes, holding one another.
“For how long?” Her voice quietly muttered, her face turning into his gentle, loving touch; for how long could the Reach go without ripping themselves apart? “Until the Gods put another mad Targaryen on the throne?”
She feared she saw the disunity of the realm reflecting within her sons now. Saw how distant they were. How they were strangers within their own homes. She did not want them to think it were something light, something easy, to turn family against family; blade at the throat of brother.
“Forever, sweet angel.” Hector Tyrell’s voice sounded different now. He felt her still in his hands, still in the quiet realisation that something was terribly wrong; and when she looked up and saw blood trickling from his nose, it felt as though all the blood had drained from her own face. There was such intense guilt within his eyes, within broken eyes carrying the weight of a broken realm and a broken man; who decided he did not want to do this anymore.
Who decided she would not remain within the realm of the living without him. How could she?
“Hector-” She muttered, raising a shaking hand to wipe at the lips he had just kissed her with, and her voice broke into a small noise of fear upon realising what stained her dainty porcelain hand. Crimson, crimson blood; her own. Not his. Her own. “No-”
“Shh. Shh now.” His grip on her tightened as she struggled, and tightened more as her slurred sobs echoed and bounced around their chambers, and her body only fell limper and limper until it moved no more.
And as she slipped into eternal darkness, as she begged the Stranger and spoke in the Brightwater tongue to explain could not yet travel upon the river of death; her candle blew out forever. There were dried tears upon her face when the maids found her, still wrapped within the arms of her loving husband, who too had passed to face the Gods. And fresh tears.
#if i only could make a deal with god and get him to swap our places (eloise&cedric tyrell)#eloise tyrell ; brightwater's pearl.#me: my heart

You always say that you are a shipper and that ships are very important to you. So lets talk about that. I ask you for your top 5 moments/scenes of each of the following trails ships: Estelle and Joshua. Rean and Alisa. Elie and Lloyd. Cedric and Shirley. Millium and Jusis. Swin and Nadia. And I want an explanation of why every of those scenes is in which place (but maybe try to make it short)
(Me? Making it short? As if! XD)
Lets start with Estelle and Joshua.
Joshuas and Estelles reunion Sky 2
I don't really think I need to explain this one. There was something amazingly satisfying about the whole scene. First of all because we waited forever for this moment, but more so because of the fact that Joshua has acted like Estelle didn't mean that much to him anymore in the previous chapters, in fact, for a small moment it even looked like he was considering a future with Josette. So seeing that he still cared about her, that he still wanted to protect her, still loved her and that despite everything, nothing of his feelings for her has changed, was just... as I said before, so damn satisfying to watch.
2. Joshuas and Estelles reunion (part two) Sky 2 (Beach scene)
One might argue that that scene basically belong to the scene above, but I really think we should see them as separate scene, as this was basically the moment were Joshua has brought Estelle to safety and decided it was time to leave her again, just for her to give him a piece of her mind and him ending up crying with her arms around him and then they FINALLY had a real true loves kiss and it was so... hach... magical. Shipping-Heaven and all. All was well again all of the sudden (after almost 6 chapters of pure utter suffering) in the World of Trails in the Sky ♥ (One might ask why that is not my most favorite scene, but the moment of screaming "FINALLY!" when Joshua came to save Estelle can not even be beaten by a kiss XD)
3. The painful love-confession Sky 1
Even tho the scene was somewhat bittersweet, I think the final scene between Joshua and Estelle in the first Trails in the Sky game was romantic in etwas very own way and deserves the third place in this list. After we started out with Joshua OBVIOUSLY being in love with Estelle and Estelle being as oblivious as Trails-Protagonists can be, it was so great to see her finally revealing her feeling to Joshua. And on the freaking rooftop of a damn castle. (Seriously, these guys have the best places for their best moments. I mean, how many people do get a sweet reunion kiss at a beach?) We also get a kiss in this scene, obviously, although that was the final nail in the "something is off here" - coffin, it was still kind of nice. How often do we get kisses that early on?
4. The scene were Joshua was supposed to kill Estelle Sky 2
Guys, the panic. The pure, absolute and utter panic you feel when you think of the fact that Joshua who FINALLY got reunited with his beloved sun, is about to kill her in a state where he has no control over himself and that when he gets back to his senses will have to face that he killed what he loved most in the world with his very own hands. But thank god the boy saw that one coming and suddenly, kneeling over Estelle, Sword on her throate and all (if you are into that kind of stuff, with no people around and all, that would have been the perfect moment to start making a smut out of this scene - and now you know my dirty secret XD), comes back to his senses and reveals that he knew that Weissmann would try to make him kill the love of his life and found a way not just around this, but also to break his stigma. The way the scene played out was really wholesome.
5. Joshua getting angry because Estelle was attacked Crossbell-Arc
I honestly can not remember the full scene or what exactly happened anymore - the Crossbell-Games are a blur to me mostly, to be honest - but wasn't it that Estelle was intervening in a fight and was attacked by Wald or so because he wasn't having her stopping him? In any case, what I do remember is how our dear, rational, calm and collected Joshua got pissed of because of that and I was like: Ah yes, the ship is still sailing quite well XD It seems like a rather small scene compared to the others, but after a while it was quite satisfying to see.
Honorable Mentions: Their link event (subtle but cute) and Cassius asking Joshua when he is going to marry Estelle in the Hajimari special - because for once in my life I did actually agree with Cassius damn Bright XD
Next is Elie and Lloyd and that is actually a hard one, because I can barely remember anything from the Crossbell-Saga. But I do try.
Their reunion-hug Hajimari
Most of you obviously saw that coming miles away but I loved their reunion in Hajimari. After waking up with Rixia in Crossbell, Elie is the first one Lloyd gets reunited with and its with a wonderful tender embrace and and absolut moment of blissful happiness for those two and I LOVED IT. (Doesn't have anything to do with them mirroring a certain scene in CS3 between Rean and Alisa that will definitely not at all get mentioned again here soon XD) Definitly the most heartfelt of Lloyds reunions and it speaks volumes how easily he falls into that hug and hugs Elie back with the tender voicedrop and all. Hach... being a shipper is great ♥
2. "I support you with my heart" (or something like that) Hajimari
Not so much after our sweet reunion we get Elie having some doubt because she couldn't protect KeA whom Lloyd loved so much and that she feels like some sort of mother figure towards. Well, true to his Trails-Protagonist-Status, he came to assure her that everything will be alright eventually, telling her what he thinks about the path she has chosen in life and ending up with her squeezing out of him that he supports her with his heart, while his hand was on her shoulders for like 5 minutes or so. Absolut gold and speaking volumes about the state of their relationship, even tho no one says it out loud.
3. The rooftop-scene (not sure if it was Zero or Ao tho...)
What would a Falcom-intended-ship be without a heartfelt talk while watching the nightsky? Lloyd and Elie have that one covered for sure and even tho I have my qualms with this scene and how Lloyds character kind of ruined it, it still was a really nice moment for shipper to see them have that kind of semi-romantic canon-moment.
4. The talk in the morning after (once again, no Idea if it was Ai or Zero)
So after some teasing from our dear Randy, Lloyd pointed out that he and Elie would never be a thing and while the scene was kind of ruining the shipping-vibe he and Elie gave at that point, it was still so damn hilarious to watch Lloyd digging himself a hole deeper than any Rean has ever been in while this whole time (and that is what still makes the scene somewhat worth being in here) he never claims he is not interested in her, in fact, he just thinks he is not worth her, actually hinting that he would be interested but feel like its useless because she deserves better than him. Laughing aside it also makes the scene kind of bittersweet.
5. Elie basically being the mother to KeA who sees Lloyd as some sort of father Zero & Ao
KeA was for me personally an absolut turning point for the Crossbell-Saga as she brought something to the SSS that it has been lacking before. As a shipper tho, the best thing KeA brought was the fact that after she basically chose Lloyd as her father figure, Elie was naturally taking on the position of a mother figure and it worked so well with Lloyd and it felt absolutely meant to be this way. Your ship kinda raising a child together is somehow a next level-happyness moment for me as a shipper, so it needed to be mentioned here.
Honorable mentions: The optional scenes: Elie and Lloyd going to that party together dressed all fancy, the almost kiss at the IBC and the heart to heart on the Mekaba.
Next are Swin and Nadia. (I am obviously not following the order, because I want to save the best for last XD) They didn't have that much screentime or shipping-scenes, despite being obviously intended to be a ship, so this will be even harder than Elie and Lloyd.
1. Swin pulling a Joshua on us Kuro 2
Probably no surprise to you that for Swin and Nadias best moment, I chose the moment were he jumped in to attack the fake Ace in favor of protecting Nadia after leaving her behind for so damn long. And of curse the hug that followed after it. After everything those two put me threw in a game that wasn't even their own I deserve a thousand more of those hugs I tell you. But for now, that one was more than satisfying for me as a starving shipper. Also, I kind of liked the idea that they more or less copied what Joshua did with his Stigma, to protect Estelle. Because it says a lot about the direction Swin and Nadias relationship is going in.
2. Nadia sleeping on Swins lap Hajimari (and Kuro flashback)
It was so freaking cute ♥ I mean, if you have read 3 and 9 (which you should) you already knew that Nadia can only properly sleep when she has Swin closeby, like... body-contact closeby works best, but seeing it firsthand was so damn cute. And I loved that when she woke up and called for Swin, who had been checking on things in the cockpit, he immediately returned to her. I mean, guys lets face it, was is cuter then character A laying resting with their head in character Bs lap?
3. Their reunion-hug Hajimari
The whole mess of Swin and Nadia as well as Rufus and Lapis being separated by whatever force has wonderfully shown how far our other groups have come in the meantime and how far Rufus team still has to go. However, the greatest part about it was Swins utter panic about not being able to protect Nadia and how Rean made sure to keep him calm until they could actually reunite and then, when they finally did have their reunion, Swin might have been surprised by the hug, but he certainly hasn't pushed Nadia away and the whole situation was all in all really cute. (Bonus points if you have noticed Reans silence after Swin said Nadia was like a sister to him - I felt like he was thinking the same thing that went through my head back then: "Yeah. Sure. Keep telling yourself that. God, this line is getting old at this point." XD)
4. Schoolfestival dance 2.0 Kuro 2
With the weird mix of Shizuna and Aaron and me not being sure about Feri and Quatre dancing together either, Swin and Nadia dancing too kind of made that scene a lot more enjoyable, especially since Nadia looked so happy. And dance-scenes certainly are an important part of any shippers greatest shipping-dreams and many ships will never ever get a dance scene (especially given how Van didn't dance with either Elaine or Agnes) so one must enjoy moments like these.
5. Riding on a motorbike together Kuro 2
Its once again really just a small moment, but I found it so cute to see Nadia hugging Swin from behind and enjoying it so much, while they were sitting on a bike together in the last Connect-Event with Van. Its small moments like these, for small ships like these that makes you happy.
Next is Millium and Jusis. They also don't have that many big moments, but they gathered a hand full of small moments over the cause of 5 games, so that should be doable.
Honorable mentions: Their introduction scene in Kuro 2s opening. Nadias reaction when it looked like Swin was stabbed in Kuro 2.
(By the way... how was I supposed to keep that short with so many ships? However, funny enough, Tumblr just told me the text is too long, so I have to make a separate post to answer the rest of the ask ^^‘)

harry potter: why it’s not “just for kids.”
the other day, this girl i know told me, “why the hell are you reading harry potter? it’s for kids only.” i’m 17, and, well, close to adulthood. i don’t reply to her, because, often, when someone asks me something like this, i have a huge explanation, lasting for a long time, and people don’t like it. so, i’m gonna give my explanation here.
harry potter. the boy who lived. the whole series is loved by millions of people in the world, from different age groups and from different parts of the world. it’d be an understatement to say that i love the series. i’ve read the books, seen the movies, even read the supplementary books, as well as harry potter and the cursed child. i’ve seen the fantastic beasts movies as well. and i’ve read the books not once, not twice, not even thrice. i’ve read the series 8 times.
here are the reasons as to why harry potter isn’t for any specific age group.
(spoiler alert to everyone out there) trigger warnings: foul language, death, slavery, discrimination.
1. harry potter, the kid who was orphaned at the age of one, the boy who had no family but his nasty muggle uncle, aunt and cousin, the name known to every wizard and witch, the one-year-old who weakened voldemort to the brink of death. this boy has gone through more pain, sorrow and grief than any fictional character i’ve read of. provided, it doesn’t seem so. but, take it from someone who has read the series as much as i have, he isn’t what he apparently seems to be. j.k. rowling gives us a glimpse of his life before hogwarts, just a mere glimpse. this small portion shows us the amount of bullying he has to go through. he has absolutely no friends, and his cousin’s gang was always behind him. his aunt and uncle starve him for the tinniest of mistakes and he did not even know the real cause of his parents’ death. he has no one to talk to, or be with. he lives in a cupboard under the stairs. his aunt and uncle are certain to “bash out” the magic in him by keeping him away from the wizarding world. he is constantly treated like trash, and he has to do all of the dursleys’ work whether he wanted to or not.
2. he gets a letter from hogwarts, and he isn’t allowed to read it. he keeps getting more and more of them, and he still isn’t allowed to read them. the letters arrive at such a pace that uncle vernon decides to move into a small hut on a rock in the middle of a sea. he then gets his letter hand delivered by hagrid, the keeper of keys at hogwarts. he finally catches a break, and goes to hogwarts, the prized boy who apparently killed voldemort. during his first year at hogwarts, he and his closest friends, ron and hermione embark on a quest to keep the philosopher’s stone from voldemort’s reach. the three 11-year-olds have to get past a three headed dog, past the devil’s snare, one of the deadliest plants in the wizarding world, past a door that could be opened only by catching a flying key scattered across many other flying keys, play on a life size board of wizard’s chess-where ron sacrifices himself so that harry could continue, which almost kills ron, past a room with 7 containers of potions which could kill them if they weren’t smart, and finally to a room where harry meets professor quirell who has provided his body as a refuge for voldemort, who manifests on the back of his head. harry faces the man who killed his parents before he could even speak, and he almost gets possessed by voldemort, because he’s probably the only one who could have the stone, as the mirror of erised could give it only to the person who wanted the stone, but not for a selfish reason. he kills quirell, but voldemort gets away. you see, this shows how deep the first book is. i mean, as a kid, i never understood the sacrifices made, by any of the characters. but, as i read the book again, i understood why what happened happened. it became obvious to me. this shows that we can enjoy the book as a child, without realizing the deepness, and as teens and adults, we get the sacrifices made, the blood shed, the connections forged, and most importantly, how important it is to recognize the values left behind, and, for once, try understanding that this series, even if written for kids, is suitable, and, important for older readers as well.
3. ronald weasely, the sixth child in a relatively poor, and commonplace wizarding family that turns out to be the most loyal, brave and worthy wizarding families ever. he grew up as a wizard and knew a lot about the wizarding world, especially it’s prejudices. he’s the perfect example of a trustworthy, loyal and brave friend. he deserves a lot more than the unnecessary hate he gets. he befriends harry potter, a famous kid that didn’t know anything about his true self, and sticks with him forever. throughout the series, we see this brave boy sacrifice a lot for his best friend. book 1, he sacrifices himself, AN ELEVEN YEAR OLD, for a boy that he knew for less than a year. book 2, he’s ready to walk into a forest, following his WORST fear, spiders, into their fucking home. book 3, he’s ready to follow a mass murderer(not really a mass murderer, but yeah) to help his best friends. book 4, even though he gets jealous and stops talking to harry for a while, we totally get what he was gong through. book 5, he fucking walks breaks into the ministry of magic with his best friends to fight the most feared group of dark wizards and witches ever. book 6, he’s ready to fight anYone for his best friends. book 7, HE’S READY TO RUN AWAY AND FIGHT THE MOST FEARED WIZARD EVER, for his best friend.
all of this, ALL OF THIS, just shows how mature he is, how much we can learn from him, and, most importantly, how wrong it is to title this series as one “for kids”. we see a mere boy sacrifice himself, put his life in danger, time and again, for his best friends. if that isn’t something every human being should be exposed to, then what is?
4. hermione granger, another important character, throughout the series, born into a muggle family, living her life as a smart, bookworm, one day, gets a letter, getting accepted into the best wizarding institution, and, unlike the dursleys, her parents are proud of her and she’s all set for this magical experience. she never anticipates the hate or the prejudice that, is shown towards her and children like her, born into a muggle family. “mudblood,” they call them, exactly the kind of discrimination imminent to THIS DAY all over the world. whether it’s on an international standard, or within a country, whether it is race, caste, gender or preferences, whether it’s against a group or an individual, it’s exactly like this. the whole concept of blood status shows us how deep the books are. it shows us how mature we need to be to understand this. it shows us how we need to think more about this and implement this in real life. a kid from a “pureblood” family, namely, draco malfoy, is the first person to use this, in book 2. it just shows us how parents like his encourage their kids to discriminate people based on their lineage. i won’t point to a specific issue but all of us know of examples, whether we’re the offenders or the offended.
5. slavery is a very important issue touched upon in the series. even though we see harry free dobby from the malfoys, there’s very little importance given to the base, the root cause of what dobby went through. he was a slave to a rich family that considered itself above anyone without “pure blood.” but, we see this very issue taken up in a book 4. we see hermione take a stand against the improper and infuriating treatment of house elves, by organizing a committee called S.P.E.W(society for the promotion of elfish welfare). we see her force people into taking part in this, and even though it’s by force, we all see where she came from. if you don’t know, house elves believed they had only one true purpose in life, to slave around for their owners, without being respected or treated well, and no matter what. we see winky, another elf, previously working(for lack of a better word, cuz that wasn’t working) for bartemius crouch, who’s absolutely against the idea of being paid or even being free. despite seeing dobby and how he enjoyed freedom, she was absolutely against it. again, we see how such an important and deep issue was addressed in a way that makes use all understand, despite our age, that EVERYONE is equal, no matter what. if you STILL think it’s a book for kids only, please continue reading.(continue anyways)
6. can we talk about how the magic-folk have had to live in hiding forever because people are afraid of them? they’re treated like they’re inhuman, trash and most importantly, like they deserve to die for being born with a power for magic?
7. as long as we’re talking about discrimination, we can also look into the fact that, squibs(non-magic folk born into magical families) are looked down upon? they’re tortured, and they receive as much hate, if not more, as “mudbloods.”
8. a special trigger warning for this: TW /death. THROUGHOUT the series, we see some of our most beloved characters die. spoiler alert: in book 1, we see how james and lily were ruthlessly killed by voldemort, orphaning a one year old boy that’d be famous for something he never knew he did. honestly, it wasn’t even his doing. in the same book, we see the killing of unicorns, the consequences of killing a unicorn and drinking it’s blood, AND the killing of professor quirell/voldemort, and even though he/they were the bad person, it deserves to be a part of this list. book 2, we see a young tom riddle get killed in the end, we see how young myrtle got killed, we see students getting fucking petrified by a monster, an inch away from death. book 3, we see how sirius black apparently killed 13 people and was an accomplice to his best friend’s murder. book 4, we see cedric die as a direct affect from the killing curse. we see harry get tortured by the cruciatus curse. we see the most feared wizard reborn, and, not to mention, we see his weakened form in the movie. book 5, we see the rampage that voldemort causes, killing more and more people, muggles and magic-folk alike. more importantly, we see harry’s godfather, sirius black die. we see the pain harry goes through. book 6, again, we see not only voldemort’s actions, but the use of sectumsempra by harry on draco, and how snape killed dumbledore. book 7, we see SO MUCH death. from alastor (mad-eye) moody to fred weasely, from severus snape to remus lupin and nymphadora tonks, so many fucking deaths. we see harry potter die.
9. can we talk about the phrase “lamb for slaughter”? most of us have heard of this phrase at least once. i cannot think of another explanation of this than the way it’s shown in these books. albus dumbledore literally prepares and protets harry for seventeen fucking years just so he can get get killed by voldemort in the end. this teaches an important lesson to everyone that, sometimes, you need to do what you think is right. even if an adult cares about you more than anything, sometimes they do things they believe in and end up hurting kids.
10. can we talk about how bill weasely got bit in the face by an untransformed werewolf and got deformed for life? even after this, fleur didn’t leave him. if this isn’t a lesson to us about what true love is, then, what is?
11. let’s talk about love. firstly, about how much harry, hermione and ron love each other. they’re the true example of best friends. they were together through everything, there for each other in the worst of times, and for the happiest of moments, and will probably be together until they die. secondly, can we talk about how when people are truly in love, they don’t care about appearances. all they care about is what’s on the inside. this is clearly shown by fleur(check point 10). ALSO, we see tonks sacrifice herself with remus, in the final battle. we see dumbledore care about harry so much, love him so much, despite everything else. we see the love family has. we see harry and hermione become a part of the weasleys. we see harry and ginny fall in love. we even see snape’s love for lily. we see so much love. now, this is something very important for all of us. whether we’re raised in that way, or we are exposed to it later in life, we need to learn that love is important in life.
12. can we talk about the torture neville’s parents, among countless others, went through? because of voldemort? and his death eaters? do you still think these books are for kids?
13. can we talk about how a group of 15 year-olds form a group to learn how to fight in the real world, because of a careless ministry of magic and a cruel teacher? it shows us values of leadership, team work, and most of all, how important friendship is. we see a part of this group march into a battle against death eaters, and, possibly, even voldemort himself, without fear of death. for one moment, look at how brave one is when one is with one’s true friends. this teaches us so much.
14. CAN WE TALK ABOUT HOW A CRUEL TEACHER MAKES A 15-YEAR OLD BOY SCAR HIMSELF WITH THE WORDS “I WILL NOT TELL LIES” JUST BECAUSE SHE WAS TOO ADAMENT TO BELIEVE THE TRUTH? do you still fucking think this series is for kids?
15. can we talk about how all the magical creatures are treated cruelly? from elves to centaurs, it’s cruelty at it’s finest. are you still convinced it’s a book for kids just because it has magic?
16. can we talk about how much trauma a reader experiences throughout the series? i mean, i’m absolutely grateful that i went through this trauma, because i came out as a better person, in not one, but, multiple ways. we journey through seven years of happiness, sorrow, pain, love, and so much more. we see our favorites get killed, we see how sometimes, people are misunderstood. we see how everyone is born good, but it’s our childhood and the way we’re raised that makes us bad. this is not something all kids understand. an older person can read this series, go through all of this, and will come out as a better human being.
17. how many of you remember the way snape was treated as a kid? huh? by harry’s own father and his friends. this is a shout out to all the bullies out there that think they can do whatever they want and not care about consequences just because they’re stronger, or more famous, or more good-looking. this fucking teaches kids to NOT bully anyone.
this is more than just a series for me. it let me into this new universe where i experienced so fucking much.
if this wasn’t enough for you to at least consider the fact that these books are not “just for kids,” i’m sorry, but you’re just being morons. you don’t wanna even consider something that goes against what you say and that’s your problem, not ours. so, STOP HATING ON THE WIZARDING WORLD COMMUNITY AND GET A FUCKING JOB.

AMOS DIGGORY is THIRTY-ONE YEARS OLD and an AUROR in THE DEPARTMENT OF MAGICAL LAW ENFORCEMENT at THE MINISTRY OF MAGIC. He looks remarkably like MATT MCGORRY and considers himself NEUTRAL. He is currently TAKEN.
→ OVERVIEW:
The Golden Boy who can do no wrong in the eyes of everyone close to him, Amos Diggory has lived his entire life pampered, privileged and paid for by his father. The only son of CONRAD DIGGORY, the Deputy Head of The Department of Magical Sports and Games, Amos grew up the apple of his father’s eye and enjoyed a very active childhood. Growing up in Ottery St Catchpole in Devon, the Diggory home was a large one that oversaw the sprawling hills of countryside around them, which Amos spent the majority of his earlier days exploring before a broom was promptly thrust into hands. A man from old wizarding money who had certain expectations and demands placed on him by his own parents, Conrad wanted Amos to grow up in his image- a Quidditch champion with a successful career at The Ministry of Magic that would strengthen the Diggory name. Descendent from ex-Minister for Magic Eldritch Diggory, the Diggory family have always aspired for greatness and have had a strict plan for all the members of their family to follow. Amos was told since the day he could understand the wishes of his parents, that he would be the next Minister for Magic to grace their family and his father would stop at nothing to ensure his future position.
Having been told he was born to rule the wizarding world since he was a baby, Amos grew up with somewhat of an over inflated ego which a number of people have managed to get past, including Amos’ younger sister EVE. Despite also being told by her parents she was destined to be the star of the Holyhead Harpies, his sister was far more modest than Amos and spent the majority of her life trying to bring him and his younger brother NATAN down to earth alongside her. Despite the pair being bery similar, Natan and Amos weren’t particularly close growing up, spending a lot of their time competing with one another, which saw Amos seeking solace in his best friends ARTHUR WEASLEY and AYA FAWCETT. The Weasley and Fawcett families lived close to the Diggory home, in sweet if slightly modest houses compared to his own and were always filled with laughter and fun. Amos loved his house, but it felt cold in comparison to the warmth of the Weasley burrow where the arguments and laughter of Arthur and his brothers BILLIUS and FREDERICK WEASLEY filled the halls of their family home. The Weasley family was different from his own. They encouraged their children to be whatever they wanted to be rather than usher them down a track they felt best fit their desires and had no opinions on who their children brought home as friends.
Arthur was an approved friend by his family, Aya on the other hand was not. Although his parents would never admit it out loud, they were snobs when it came to blood purity and liked the idea of their children marrying within similar bloodlines in order to keep their line pure. They were very suspicious people, who didn’t like the way Aya looked at Amos with love in her eyes when she was a Half-Blood witch with little money to her name and silently hoped their son would grow out of her when he went away to school. Going away to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry cemented Amos’ reputation in the wizarding world as an egotistical boy who was unafraid to back down from a challenge. Sorted into Hufflepuff, Amos was a skilled flyer and a talented duellist, which he never tired of both telling other people and showing off about. His constant boasting managed to cause a rift between him and some of the more studios people in his year such as EMMELINE VANCE, whilst drawing in people of a similar nature such as fellow wealthy Pure-Blood TIBERIUS MCLAGGEN and TOMAS WOOD who he bonded with both on the Quidditch pitch and in Slug Club meetings of which they were all proud members. Graduating with fairly decent grades, Amos was in no way the top of his class though he was a hard worker and had been a very dillent and beloved Quidditch Captain for the Hufflepuff team which worked in his favor.
His N.E.W.T.S results just managed to scrape him an interview to apply for a job in the Aurror’s Office, alongside a good word from his father. Although the idea of being a famous Quidditch player had always seemed more attractive to him, it had been decided by his parents long before he was born that his future career path would follow that of Eldritch Diggory as long as he could pass the rigorous exams. Amos began Auror training assuming he would be able to coast through it given his particular set of skills but quickly found it was more taxing than he had first apprehended. His natural charms didn’t help when attempting to brew Poisons and Antidotes potions much to the amusement of fellow trainee HESTIA JONES and the rest of his classmates. A friend of Emmeline’s, Hestia Jones had also been Amos’ year at school who he had chosen to avoid. Only interested in having fun and chasing Quaffles, Hestia was too stuffy for Amos and found her uptight and bossy demeanour overshadowed her beauty. His opinion on her hadn’t changed after they began training together, if anything he disliked her even more. Hestia seemed to take every opportunity to show off to the teachers and laugh at Amos in the process, which was wildly annoying.
Although Amos hates to admit it, Hestia’s persistent comments and jokes made him want to be a better student and he began privately studying with his close friends KINGSLEY SHACKLEBOLT and FRANK LONGBOTTOM in an effort to make her feel embarrassed in classes. He also began to grow slightly fonder of Hestia who he began to enjoy attempeting to flirt with even if Hestia seemed disgusted whenever he gave her a compliment. Amos graduated towards the middle of his class, though began showing everyone why he had been chosen to undergo Auror training when he began working in The Auror’s Office full-time. A resourceful wizard, Amos enjoys being assigned to cases that require a different point of view and is quick at thinking on his feet. Though he is highly intelligent and has a high success rate of bringing in persons of interest and closing difficult cases, he is taken less seriously than some of the other members of his department due to his arrogance which often casts him in an immature light. Despite often being written off as egotistical, Amos has a genuine heart of gold and is very popular amongst his group of friends who see past his overly-confident facade. Having made amends with Emmeline in recent months and still seeking the approval of Hestia, Amos has had his head down recently attempting to help solve a number of missing persons cases he has seen the two witches working on.
Despite everyone in the office working extra hard recently due to the string of disappearences, Amos has noticed not everyone has been working as hard as others. Emmeline and Hestia having previously sacrificed their social lives to live at the office, have been leaving earlier and going missing for days at a time without a word of warning to anyone other than ALASTOR MOODY. Suspicious the two witches are up to something, Amos has been slowly trying to figure out where they’re heading in their spare time and has been attempting to ask around and find out what they’re up to. Convinced it has something to do with the cases pililing up, Amos believes they are getting extra work from Moody due to them being his favourites and is annoyed that he is being overlooked. Despite wanting to get closer to Emmeline and Hestia, Amos’ ego is more important to him than friendship and he refuses to have anyone get one over on him when he knows he deserves better. Outside of work he can often be found laughing in various pubs and bars and charming the beautiful witches. Although Amos needs no help securing dates, he is often too busy to date. As such he spends a lot of time with LAUREL LINWOOD outside of his busy work schedule, taking her out to dinner and for cocktails when she can squeeze him in. Though Amos does pay for Laurel’s time, he believes the pair have a real connection however he isn’t sure if it’s something he tells himself to help him feel less dirty.

I want an au where a reincarnated muggle Draco dreamt about the wizard Draco Lucius Malfoy after he turned eleven, so here goes my attempt at it, please if you know any wonderful writer please please please notify them immediately to make this a full book.
After a week, Draco concluded the past self theory must be the closest to the truth and never came up with a better one.
He wondered, however, why the wizard Draco hated a boy named Harry Potter so much. Draco concluded it must be the rejected handshake, but after a few weeks Draco was not so sure anymore. Wizard Draco just enjoyed torturing Harry Potter, and it was annoying Draco so much though he didn't know why.
When Draco was twelve, wizard Draco eavesdropped his father's self talk that involved this man called The Dark Lord and a diary. Draco didn't know why, but the wizard Draco looked terrified. Later, he dreamt about wizard Draco ripping through a paper from a wizard book store and many many dreams later he dreamt about wizard Draco slipping the paper into Hermione's stoned form. Draco didn't understand fully what was going on, but he hoped wizard Draco had done the right thing.
When Draco was thirteen, he actually laughed when wizard Draco got slapped by the witch Hermione Granger. It was justified, he thought. He also pitied wizard Draco afterwards, because by this time Draco knew wizard Draco hadn't meant whatever bad things he said or did. Draco continued to wonder why he was having these dreams. Maybe the wizard Draco wanted to share his experiences after he died? There must be some kind of magic wizard Draco could do for that, right?
When Draco was fourteen, he was absolutely terrified for Potter. Draco had long realized that his dreamt were most vivid and vibrant when they involved Potter, though maybe it was only his own infatuation talking. Yes, by this age he realized though the wizard Draco hated Harry Potter, Draco fancied him. Getting back to the terrified part, though, Draco dreaded this Triwizard Tournament would be the end for Potter.
Harry Potter proved yet again he was indeed The Boy Who Lived, and Draco woke up in relief one morning. Though, he grieved with Potter of Cedric Diggory's death. Draco could feel the warmth radiating the Hufflepuff wizard, and he could tell Potter was heart broken for his death, and Draco's heart broke for him too.
Draco really resented wizard Draco when he's fifteen. Come on, the Ministry Umbridge, really? But upon dreaming wizard Draco receiving a letter from his father, Draco's hatred once again shifted to Lucius Malfoy. He supposed not all father was his son's hero, after all.
In wizard Draco's sixth year, Draco was jealous with a witch named Ginevra Weasley, but he barely got the time for the ugly envy, because he was so nervous for wizard Draco's mission. In the back of his mind, Draco knew they both didn't want wizard draco to succeed, but the wizard Draco knew precisely the dreading consequences for his mother if he really failed, so Draco watched wizard Draco destroyed himself trying to save his beloved family.
Seventh year was probably the worse time for wizard Draco. It was hard for Draco to grasp at the situation fully, but even he knew everything was messed up. No, everything was horrible and soul depressing. Even Draco was affected by his dreams, and he honestly didn't know how wizard Draco survived. He didn't know if wizard Draco survived, but he reckon wizard Draco survived long enough to do magic that letting him see all his life.
When wizard Draco failed to identify Harry Potter at his manor, Draco realized wizard Draco must have loved Harry Potter too. It was supposed to be a good thing, to know wizard Draco didn't hate Harry Potter as much as Draco thought he did, but considering how his past self's life was, he grieved for wizard Draco's feelings.
Harry Potter was dead, and Draco swore he could feel his past self's heart breaking. Maybe it was his own, but Draco didn't think he could love someone from his dream as much. And then few seconds later Harry Potter lived! Oh how relieved Draco was. Harry Potter saved the day. Or maybe Harry Potter saved their wizarding world, Draco didn't know for sure, but the title savior was truly befitting Harry Potter.
Draco didn't know why he prayed, but he really did when he saw the dream where wizard Draco received a letter to return for their eighth year. Draco hoped wizard Draco would take the chance. Partly because he wanted to see Harry Potter again, but a huge part of it just wanted the wizard Draco had a second chance. Surely he deserved it?
Wizard Draco Malfoy returned for eighth year. He even befriended Harry Potter! Now Draco saw him almost every night in his dreams, and they did wonders for his good mornings. Draco watched, mesmerized by their interactions. Of course wizard Draco still in denial that he was in love with Potter, but somehow Draco understood. Not even Romeo and Juliet could rival the tragedy that be falling the wizard Draco Malfoy, even if Harry returned his feelings.
Draco was so glad for his past self when he was accepted in Auror Training alongside with Potter and Weasley. Maybe his future would be brighter, now. Who knows, maybe wizard Draco is still alive and Draco is only living in one of those alternate universe the girls in his class keep talking about.
Wizard Draco Malfoy was dead. He was twenty. He was just twenty years old and Draco was seeing red. He watched auror Draco and Potter went into a mission, and then suddenly a terrible red light shot through Draco's chest and there was blood everywhere.
Draco watched auror Potter crouch in front of his past self, tears in his eyes. Not for the first time, Draco wondered if his-no, if wizard Draco's feelings are returned, and he actually didn't know which fact was worse for them. All he knew was that the wizard Draco had said 'I love you' to Potter before he closed his eyes, and Potter had said nothing, and then Draco woke up screaming and crying.
The next day, when he didn't dream about wizard Draco anymore, he wrote his previous dreams down on papers. He surprised himself that he remembered almost all of them. He wrote some while laughing, cringing at the memories, or rolling his eyes at the ridiculousness. Most of the time, though, Draco wrote with tears in his eyes. There was just so much for wizard Draco to live for, to spend his days as peaceful as what he deserved after surviving a war, but he died instead.
Draco was tempted to wrote down a different ending in his little diary. No one would know. But it didn't sit right with him, so Draco made sure he had conveyed how much wizard Draco had loved Harry Potter instead. So, so in love with him that wizard Draco didn't hesitate to throw himself as a shield when his partner was defenseless. His partner, whom was also the love of his short yet meaningful life.
When Draco moved out from his apartment in his twenties, his friend found his diary and swore to him she would make Draco the most famous writer ever in Britain.
A day later, Draco Applewinter got a visit from a seemingly fourty years old Hermione Granger. They both widened their eyes upon the meeting, and maybe for the obvious reason. Neither of them truly believed the other existed before they saw with their own eyes. Granger was the one who broke the silence.
"My name is Hermione Granger and I'm-"
"An unspeakable"
Granger actually laughed, though hysterically.
"Yes and that's why I'm dealing with this shit. Merlin, I need to sit down."
So Draco offered her to come in and sat down. He even poured a cup of tea for her. After a few gulps and long breaths, Granger spoke again.
"Are you...are you really Draco Malfoy?"
"It's Draco Applewinter, actually. But in a sense, I suppose I am."
His mom had named him Draco, said it just came over her after she bizarrely had the most briliant idea to learn new languages in her late pregnancy. Draco only nodded then, not wanting to share his past self dreaming just yet.
"You know, the right procedure would be to obliviate you and destroy the evidence."
"will you?"
Granger took in a breath.
"It depends."
"On what?"
Draco knew this would be the time something shifted in his life. He just knew, but he was still shocked when Granger asked.
"Do you want to meet Harry Potter?"
Draco didn't say yes. He was just crying too much to form words. He furiously nodded, and five minutes latter there was a tired looking fourty years old Harry Potter in his fireplace.
"I swear 'Mione you always ask for my help when I'm off duty, unspeakable should not do this you know?"
Harry Potter looked up from the fireplace, and he saw the splitting image of Draco Malfoy sitting at a sofa with Hermione. Draco was just the same as he remembered. He was crying, and, if possible, was crying harder at the sight of him. Harry really didn't understand any of this.
"Mione, what's-" Harry almost cried too, he hated how his voice cracked at the sight of his dead partner. Maybe the house is cursed, maybe he was hallucinating, maybe Harry Potter finally lost his marbles.
"What's going on?" He hated how defeated he sounded, but how could he not?
Hermione handed him a book. It was untitled, but Merlin was it thick. Maybe it held the information to break the curse and whatever false image he is seeing?
"Harry, read the last chapter. Please."
So Harry did. By the end of it, he was shaking uncontrollably. The last paragraph got him crouched on the floor and cried as if he was experiencing his partner's death for the second time.
'Draco couldn't help but wonder as he drifts into the most peaceful sleep, how will Harry Potter live after this? He hopes Harry is not grieving for too long, and his confession doesn't burden Harry very much. Harry deserves the happiest and the most beautiful life ahead of him, and Draco supposes he could accept his death peacefully for all of those and many more reasons, one being his love for his best friend.'
Harry wiped his tears and looked for answer at his best friend. Hermione just sat there, saying nothing though she looked like she wanted to hug him. Harry asked her softly.
"What do I have to do?"
And Hermione answered as gently.
"Answer his question, Harry."
Maybe he had to answer the question to make the image of Draco goes away. He could do this. Determined, Harry looked at Draco's eyes and answered.
"Harry Potter lived horribly after Draco Malfoy's death. He grieved for every second of his life and more. He-"
Harry had to pause to calm his harsh breaths down. He could do this.
"He didn't eat for a while. He didn't work for years. He was hopeless, actually."
Harry laughed at his own pathetic self.
"He doesn't think Draco's love confession as a burden. He only regrets not being able to say it back."
The image of Draco in front of him was crying again. Harry really didn't understand how he was helping Hermione in this, but maybe Draco crying was a sign of his disappearance. Part of Harry didn't want him to disappear, but another part of him well knew it doesn't do well to dwell in dream. He continued.
"Harry Potter really loves Draco Malfoy, more than Draco Malfoy would ever know."
Maybe that was why Hermione asked him for help. She was helping Harry to finally have a closure. Harry moved closer to Draco, surprised at how warm his hands in Harry's fingers. He looked at the subject of his grief for years, and he whispered.
"Draco, I love you, I'm sorry for not saying it back."
Harry was not sure which of them sobbed at his words, it could be him, or Hermione, or whatever hallucination Harry was seeing in front of him. Harry watched Draco squeeze his hands, wondering to himself how many seconds he had left before the curse was lifted.
"And Draco Malfoy loves you, Harry. He's sorry for leaving, but he's not sorry to die for you. He loves you too much to bear a life without you, so he leaves you, and I'm sorry for your grief."
And I love you
Draco didn't say. At least, he didn't say it for years. He only said it once he was certain Harry Potter didn't love him for Draco Malfoy, just the muggle Draco Applewinter who doesn't know even the most basic magic trick.
It was a little anticlimactic how their love confessions went, and his editor would asked him to edit his sequel book ending later, but he would refused her. He wouldn't change the ending for a lifetime.

To be fainthearted…
That a student of Hogwarts was prowling the corridors of the castle in the wee hours of the morning was not uncommon.
The fact that this student belonged to Gryffindor House was even less so.
That such a student had hair that was red as hellfire could almost be considered normal.
The fact that this particular student was mumbling curses and oaths about a certain frizzy-haired which, it had been part of the regular school scene for more than 4 years.
But for such a student, at the height of Dolores Umbridge's reign of terror, to wander aimlessly, alone, under a disillusioning spell, with the marauder's map in hand and risking exemplary punishment or even expulsion from school, was decidedly atypical.
“A fucking wart? Mmm-hmm. A fucking wart and a fucking teaspoon?...” He mumbled as he took long strides through the corridors, almost oblivious to everything else. “My arse!”
Everything had started after the DA meeting. Cho Chang had accosted Harry in room of requirement while the rest of the group had dispersed. Hermione and he had gone to Gryffindor common room at and were having a relaxed conversation until she insisted that he complete his task while she wrote a letter. Hermione's parchment was already over the edge of the table and hanging dangerously close to the floor, when Harry came through the hole behind the portrait.
It had been perfectly obvious that something had happened. While one could not say that Harry had arrived with a completely dumb face, it was no less true that he was the closest thing to the face of someone who had been struck by a stunning spell.
With Harry’s apparent inability to explain what had happened, Hermione had taken the initiative in the conversation until he blew up the cauldron:
“Have you kissed?”
Wait... What? Harry would have kissed Cho or maybe it was Cho who kissed Harry? After the initial surprise, he was enthusiastic about his friend and wished he did it.
Of course! He'd been aware of Hurry’s crush on Cho since last year. One would have to be blind not to see him with that deer's eyes accompanied by a slight drooling every time Cho entered the scene! But following the usual pattern of shitty luck in Harry Potter's life that was the time when the bird was dating Cedric Diggory.
The memory of the partner killed by Peter Pettigrew overshadowed Ron's memories. Cedric was a good guy and his end had been unexpected, unjust and one more to add to the long list of Wormtail's coward crimes. Top of them, the betrayal of Harry's parents: Lily and James Potter.
“You filthy rat!" he swore. “If I had known, I personally would have left you alone with Crookshanks in a nice little room without a single hole in its walls and an undisturbed spell on the door.
The point was that Harry was still attached to Cho, if not more so, and it seemed that she had begun to notice Harry. There was no doubt that he had turned out to be a brilliant teacher in the DA meetings, added to his perpetual challenge to the pink toad and the legendary fight at the quidditch pitch had contributed enormously, to increase his sex appeal according to some whispered comments that he had heard between the women of the DA and some boys.
Ron wished with all his heart that, “For once!”, Harry's bad luck changed and like any normal teenager, he could live a normal life enjoying the intimate affection of a hot girl who she like him, although in his opinion ...a Tornado fan was not good enough for Harry. . . One flash of a long red hair burst into his mind making him shake his head to free himself from such disturbing vision.
But as usual, Harry hadn't had any luck with it either.
Instead of the first-time nervous or inexperienced teenager's kiss, it had resulted in little more than a disaster that had trapped Harry in the pit of insecurity in his ability to kiss properly a girl and later, with Hermione's invaluable assistance and her detailed talk about Cho Chang's state of emotional turmoil, he guessed in Harry, the doubt about the appropriateness of attempting any kind of relationship with such an emotionally damaged girl and, knowing Harry's legendary hero complex, he would be able to give up the girl if he thought it was sparing him any further pain. A massive Dragon’s dung in Ron's opinion, so he had used his best weapon to pull Harry out of his stupefaction and keep him from falling into his usual melancholy self-isolation; a joke:
“No one can feel so many things at once. It would explode!”
Ron doubted that anyone could explode because of it. If himself hadn't exploded with everything that's happened in the last year, it would be strange if someone else did. “Okay. Maybe Neville would go into a coma or pass out, but I don't think so. Dealing with Mrs. Longbottom for so many years had given him much more courage than many would give him credit for.”
In any case, Hermione's words had unleashed an emotional storm inside Ron, and the problem was that he saw no way to refute the logical sequence of events that had been linked together and seemed to form the links of a chain that wrapped around his neck.
Harry was diligent, brilliant, and handsome, he was not. Harry would have deserved to be prefect of Gryffindor, he didn't. Harry was extraordinary in Quidditch, he wasn't. . . “But Victor fucking pumpkin head Krum is too. So rich. Could be richer as Harry even and. . . . and I'm sure he's experienced enough to know how to kiss a woman properly and. . . Oh God! How does Hermione know Harry is a good kisser and who has she been able to compare him to. . . ?”
He couldn't help it. His mind was filled with the slow motion image of Hermione kissing Krum torridly, trapping his ridiculously short hair between her thin fingers and taking his lips as if from them she extracted the air she needed to breathe, while one of his hands remained on her delicate waist and the other slowly ascended from her hip to caress her entire chest, provoking a lustful moan in her.
Ron felt the periphery of his vision turn red and his fists instinctively clenched so tightly that he felt his own nails sink into his flesh. He felt the need to rip the bastard's head off and when he looked up to face him, his mind was filled with Harry's gaze as he kissed Hermione passionately.
A familiar black claw wrapped around Ron's heart and squeezed it empty until it was breathless. He had never felt such pain or such overwhelming despair. Without being able to avoid it, from the depths of his being, a cry of impotence burst out, which ascended through his throat and escaped from him like the roar of the mortally wounded lion that intends to take his killer away with his last breath. . .
“Who's there? Don't try to escape. Inquisitorial Squad, with me!”
Ron cursed himself. He was so overwhelmed by the pain his own mind had generated that he had forgotten about bloody Umbridge and its band of mangy snakes patrolling the school corridors. Without thinking too much, he rushed to the double-leafed doors in front of him and entered.
“Professor Umbridge. Here!”
Blood seemed to be boiling in Ronald Weasley's veins. He'd recognize that voice anywhere. It was like the Malfoy and Weasley families had some sort of bond in destiny that would inevitably lead them to confront each other. The bloody bouncing ferret was on the other side of the door blocking the exit and calling for the great inquisitor to fall on him. Ron could hardly have imagined the satisfaction it would cause the flathead to discover that the student who violated the curfew was a Weasley and, among them, Harry Potter's best friend, no less! Nothing would make him happier than to witness another humiliation by Ronald Weasley. He was in these thoughts when another, much more disturbing, one made its way into his mind.
Umbridge! This would be like an early Christmas present for her. She would take advantage of the fact that it was him to provoke Harry and that would give her the perfect excuse to expel him.
Shit! You bloody fool couldn't have held back yourself, he thought to himself. No wonder Hermione can't see you as anything but a good-for-nothing. . . Hermione! Oh my God! If neither Harry or I are here, the ferret and the fucking toad are going to torment her to death. They're going to beat her and provoke her mercilessly until she quits or explodes and they can finally expel her. This would kill her. Shit, shit, shit, I'm the biggest asshole on the face of the earth. . .
“Grand Inquisitor Dolores Umbridge here". The voice of the disgusting toad was heard on the other side of the door. “I order you to leave that room.”
Ron, not breathing, stood three feet from the door waiting for the fatal decay.
“There's nothing to be afraid of"; he said with false sweetness. “All of us here are friends and we care about the safety of the students at the school. The Ministry only wants the best for all the magical children in the UK...” Ron thought that sounded suspiciously similar to a certain muggle story Hermione had once told him about a witch, one stupid girl and a poisoned apple...
“I'm absolutely sure is not your fault"; and this time there seemed to be some poison in her voice. “No doubt you'd be following the horrible example of Mr. Potter and his friends about how much fun it is to walk around the castle at this hour, but they don't have the good breeding of those born into completely magical families". She said scornfully, “And they can't understand how dangerous it can be to prowl around the castle at these hours, without the supervision of someone fully versed in the ins and outs of true magic society”. Ron swore he heard a chuckle from the silver ferret. “I'm begging you to come out. I promise that you will only receive one warning and we will accompany you to your common room so that you can rest until tomorrow's class”.
That's not what you've been saying publicly so far, you bloody cow. Always promising magic world perfectly safe thanks to the ministry and your “beloved” Fudge, old hag, he thought, trembling with anger. SHE knows more about the magic world, its traditions and its miseries than you will ever know in your entire fucking life. In an ideal world, you wouldn't even be worthy of breathing the same air that she breathes. Instinctively, his magic channelled all his anger into his own hand that seemed to sizzle, longing to meet the wand that waited expectantly in his back pocket.
“Very well”, this time Umbridge's voice was definitely loaded with contempt. “I understand that if you are unable to understand the delicate complexities of the magical world and my desire to ensure your safety is because you have not had the proper education in your born-home. Nothing that a proper punishment can't solve, so, you´ll understand your place”.
This did it. Ron took three steps behind leaving its good fifteen feet with the door.
This sadist thinks it's not pureblood who is here and she's going to take advantage of it to make an example of it. His hand finally met his wand that seemed to emit a buzz of satisfaction to his contact. She will be stunned when she sees that the marauder is one of the “twenty-eight sacred". He thought this one with really loathe, like if bitter gall touched his lips at the memory. If I were anyone else I might be able to escape from this by sounding sorry, but being who I am, she's going to take advantage of it to go against both of them and if she doesn't go against Hermione, Draco will. For a moment a smile escaped his lips as he thought of what Hermione would do to Draco if he openly fought against her while remembering the superb punch the ferret had received in third year. But Malfoy will never attack her openly. He would seek a moment of solitude and would be accompanied by his two gorillas and possibly some Slytherin Deatheater apprentice and, God knows! What they would be capable of doing to her.
As his last smile died on his face, his wand was raised in his arm in a duelling position. Ron knew his fate was already decided. He knew that with him expelled, he would no longer be able to protect Harry and Hermione within the walls of Hogwarts, but nothing would stop him from defending them outside or making a last stand inside. When he confronted Umbridge and her henchmen, he would make his argument clear by giving them a hell of a wand, to make them understand that, just in the moment any of them tried to harm any of their friends, there would be no place under the sun where they could hide from him. So that miserable crew on the other side of the door would get the message and refrain from really drastic actions against his two friends.
Being Ron under age, he would not end up in Azkaban, and the fact that this stinking band knew that he would be free to show up at Hogsmeade from time to time would help reinforce the message. That would give Dumbledore and McGonagall time to regain control of the school and protect both of them. The image of a knight being taken by the queen on a gigantic chessboard gave him a crooked smile meanwhile he faced, wand in hand, his fate. Checkmate, pal.
“Alohomora!”
Alohowhat? What in the h. . .; Ron didn't have time to complete the question that popped into his mind while his frown frowned in shock when he heard the spell on the other side of the door. But, if the door's not locked, why are they. . . ? For the second time, the idea died in his mind as he watched as the doorknob seemed to turn repeatedly in the attempt of someone trying to open the door, apparently in vain.
“ALOHOMORA!” It was heard again from the other side.” What's wrong with the damn door?” Again the voice of Umbridge was heard, this time in an unmistakable tone of irritation, as the doorknob was shaken more and more violently without the door giving way by a single millimetre.
-Get out of the way! This time there was real rage in the voice of the great inquisitor. On the other side of the door, Ron heard her to perform, one after the other, no less than 10 different spells trying to unlock the door and the paroxysmal movement of the doorknob had also given way to the incensed knocking of the door, as if in a primary resource and having failed magic, brute force was being used to force entry. It was then that he realized that his wand seemed to be emitting a dull buzzing sound that made her hand tremble.
“That's enough! I'm sure this is a joke of that brazen poltergeist”. Ron smiled. The toad's voice sounded more like a big walrus's breathing down from too much exercise. “Sure. He must have let out the scream and bewitched the door so that it could not be opened"; she continued, between gasping and panting.
“But professor”, Ron shuddered again at the sound of Malfoy's voice and to realize that his wand was shaking more intensely. “We've known Peeves since the first year, and that's certainly not his voice, nor is this the style of his jokes. He tends to be cruder and coarser by throwing stink bombs or buckets of ice water on the backs of the students. . .” The ferret's peroration was interrupted by the unmistakable sound of a slap on the back of his neck particularly hard.
“Stupid”. Umbridge's voice sounded particularly annoying. “Do you dare to discuss a teacher's judgment? I tell you that all this is the work of that nasty spirit and, if all of you had been properly versed in the magical arts, you would have realized it right away as well”. Ron could not help but have a panting laugh. The toad had just beaten the insufferable presumptuous, frustrated by her inability to open the door and, trying to avoid looking bad in front of her acolytes, she had diverted attention and blame onto the asshole. My word. He would have gladly paid two months' pay for being able to see the ferret's face.
“This only proves the ministry right. The quality of teaching in this place has tragically declined and it is imperative that the ministry take control of it in order to instruct the young wizards and witches in the mastery of their skills. “With me!” It was heard like a whimper and then, the unmistakable tapping of a few steps away.
Ron stood waiting for an invisible trap to fall on him; meanwhile, his wand continued vibrating in his hand, though ever more faintly, until it stopped completely. He remained motionless and almost breathless for a few more minutes, hoping to believe in his good fortune and that he really had escaped from a more than complicated situation. Finally, he decided it was time to take a chance and averted his eyes from the door and consulted the marauder's map. He couldn't believe it! On the map it could clearly read “Ronald Weasley”, but on the other side of the door the map did not reflect the presence of anyone. Even in his surroundings there doesn't seem to be a soul.
Now or never, pal; he said to himself in encouragement and then, he set about turning the doorknob which. As before, it pivoted on its axis smoothly and pulled it, the door to stay locked.
“Shit”, he mumbled, but refrained from further attempts. In a sad irony, it seemed that the same mystery that had saved his freckled arse was keeping him prisoner of the room. “Well", he closed his eyes and as he concentrated he muttered. “Whatever it is, I really appreciate you helping me out, but I'd really like to get out, get to my room and forget about tonight. I swear I've learned the fucking lesson not to wander around the castle after curfew, or at least, not to be such an asshole as to scream in the hallway after curfew”. He looked at the door again and tried to open it, and again this one remained unmoved.
“Bloody hell!” This time the tone of his voice was noticeably louder. He turned in frustration on himself and looking up at the ceiling dropped himself over the door and, leaned on the back of his head as it tapped repeatedly against the wood in an attempt to alleviate his disappointment.
“Okay! It's all right. If the price I have to pay for escaping the damn pink toad is to spend the night in this room, I'll gladly take it. Tomorrow someone will come, open the door, cast the disillusioning spell on me, sneak out and I'll manage to find a way to justify my. . .
He jumped upright as he opened his eyes wide, realizing that he had no idea where he was! It had all happened so quickly and unexpectedly that all he could remember was walking through the door that was closest to him at the time. Once the surprise was over, he began to inspect the room, hoping to recognize it.
“I should've known better”. The sad whisper escaped his lips as if it were the sigh of a condemned man whose last chance for freedom is slipping away.
The shelves followed one another in countless rows . . . “Well, surely not countless. I'll bet Hermione knows “exactly"; the number of them, as well as the number of every damn book inside each and every one of them"; he moaned.
Still, he had to admit. Empty of students, under the twilight of the moonlight filtering through the large windows, the Hogwarts Library was magnificent. Magnificent and intimidating.
“As always, she is able to see things at first sight, which takes the rest of us years"; he sighed. “No wonder I am not even able to keep up with her thoughts when that adorable head of her gets going”. And that was precisely what was bothering him most at this time and had led him to wander aimlessly through the school corridors. That with all her brilliance, all her knowledge, all her fucking logic, she wouldn't have been able to see everything that was bubbling up inside him. . .
Ron had not been aware at first, but gradually he became aware of the presence of candlelight behind some library shelves. Initially he feared that it might be because of the presence of another person in the library, whether it was a student, a teacher or, at worst, Filch and his mangy cat. So he remained quiet, but since the light seemed to be steady, no noise was heard, and the memory that the marauder's map had shown no one in the vicinity, he ventured quietly behind the bookshelf to find out what it was.
It didn't take him long to discover that it was one of the candlesticks that supplied light to the library users, but what was really curious was that it was the only candlestick that seemed to burn in the whole library. He approached it with the aim of extinguishing the candles when they went out by themselves while at the other end of the shelf the candles of another candleholder began to burn expontaneously.
Having grown up in the magic world, these kinds of situations were no surprise to him. They were fascinating, no doubt, but not at all a complete surprise.
He had long known that in one way or another, every wizard, every witch, had left the magical sight of his existence on the world. He knew many examples of them:
The essences of the four founders who died long ago, in the sorting hat. Those of his twin uncles Gideon and Fabian also killed in the first war against Voldemort, in the house clock. The Marauder’s Map, with the essence of James Potter, and his friends. Even, according to Harry's story, who-you-know-who left part of him in the diary that possessed Ginny in her first year.
With more than a thousand years of existence, it was practically impossible to know how many wizards and witches walked, studied and lived among these old stones, and each one of them left his own mark. Some would leave a barely perceptible trace, but others performed such intense episodes of magic that the traces they left behind, seemed to have a will of their own.
The hat was left with the mission of continuing to sort the students by the time the founders were gone.
The house clock, to know the status of each family member and to be able to come to their aid if necessary.
The map conspired so that the big troublemakers could keep up their mischief at school and, the diary, somehow, tried to bring Voldemort back.
This last thought plunged her spirit back into sadness and melancholy bringing back the thoughts that had made her leaves the safety of the tower of Gryffindor:
Is that really all she thinks of me? Does she really think I don't know what Cho Chang is feeling?
Like answering that question, another group of candles went out to be immediately replaced.
I can't really blame her, can I? I've never been good at expressing myself, let alone how I feel, but then again, how could I? How do you tell the most wonderful woman in the world that you're crazy for her? That you regret terribly to be a clumsy, mindless, worthless lout. Which you know you don't deserve her. That you know that you shouldn't even notice me but that you can't help but love her more than my own family, more than Harry, more than the blood that runs through my veins, more than my life itself and that knowing and feeling all that is eating me up inside. How do you tell her you feel all this and more, ‘only’, because you love her?
Ron feels that dull pain in his chest again. A veil of tears struggles to leave his eyes as he rolls his shirt sleeve over them to prevent his vision from becoming blurred, and it is when he refocuses them that he sees it. The candlestick he approaches is no longer extinguished, but seems to beat as if prompting him to approach it, and as he does so, the booklet seems to slowly separate from the rest of his companions on the shelf, prompting him to pick it up.
When Ron takes it, he feels comforting warmth in his fingers, like if the worn book is meant to convey a feeling of friendship and comfort, like if it is telling him in a mute way that everything will be all right after all. A feeling that brings back memories of the day he got his wand. Not his brother's, but his real wand.
“What do you got for me, buddy?”
There's tenderness in Ron's whisper. Any of those familiar with Hogwarts' worst-kept secret would think that the redhead is pouring out in that act and onto an object so intrinsically linked to the image of his beloved, all the love and all the delicacy that he seems unable to show her as a victim of his own inferiority complex, while unwittingly moving towards Hermione's favourite place in the library.
It's magic.
It's part of the magic that resides in every corner of Hogwarts. It is the magic trace that perhaps a long time ago, someone left to help a heart desperate to find an answer to its silent prayer and, just like it should have been long ago, when the mortified Ronald Weasley opens the book, a magic wind stirs the pages of the book showing him one of them in particular, like the old friend who gives you good advice. That's why Ron reads. He reads with such intensity that his eyes devour the words written centuries ago and as he does so his gaze gets wet. Each line is like a balm on the wounds of his tormented heart while a bright smile appears on his face. Now, Ron knows.
And when he looks up, his heart is not only filled with love for the frizzy-haired know-it-all witch, but with infinite gratitude.
Gratitude for whoever put the book on the shelf at Muggle Studies. Gratitude for the wizard or witch whose essence left such a deep mark on the old magic of the school, that it reacted to his agony and gratitude to the one who wrote the words he has just read. Words that today give him the knowledge of knowing that he is not alone, that he has never been alone. That before him, millions of men and women, wizards and witches, magicians and muggles have experienced the same feelings, confusion and agony as him, with the fortune that some of them have been so daring, so privileged in their intelligence and endowed with the gift as to be able to express them in words, and guided simply by their instinct, Ron look for parchment and quill as he begins to copy furiously. . .
Hermione Granger seemed to be sleepwalking after leaving Professor McGonagall's office. The accumulation of events that had occurred in the last few hours that she had referred, to still seemed to be getting through to her.
Mr. Weasley had been attacked in the Ministry by Voldemort's snake! And he had only escaped death because of the early warning that Harry had given.
When she woke up this morning, she was surprised not to find Harry or any of the Weasleys in the dining room, which had led to an unpleasant feeling on her chest, but what had set off all her alarms was the story from Ron and Harry's roommates. She had immediately rushed to the teachers' table, when a simple gesture from McGonagall had instructed her that this was neither the place nor the time. Something that was confirmed moments later, with the appearance of Professor Umbridge demanding to know the whereabouts of the Weasley brothers.
In her mind, she could recreate the scene as if she had been there. She was about to bet that at this moment, Harry would be oblivious to the fact that he was the one who allowed Mr. Weasley with his warning. What's more, she would bet one of her O.W.L.s marks that at this same moment Harry would be blaming himself for what happened, convinced that Arthur had been attacked simply because he was the father of his best friend and so, he would be ruminating that feeling inside himself without letting anyone penetrate the shell of isolation he would have built around him, preventing anyone from making him see the absurdity of his reasoning.
Along with this feeling, her other concern was to imagine the state of Mr. Weasley and how the rest of the family would be passing the hours.
She could imagine their reactions and the visceral fear they must have felt in their hearts, when they were woken up in the middle of the night to inform them that, their father, was struggling between life and death, the victim of a Voldemort attack.
She imagined Mrs. Weasley tried to appear strong and confident so his family wouldn't break up. To the twins, whose jokes for once could not insulate them from the merciless reality of war. To Ginny in whose mind she'd be spending her ordeal in the Chamber of Secrets, to. . .
“Ron!” The moan escaped from between her lips and her whole mind was focused on him.
Hermione knew of the particular connection between Mr. Weasley and his youngest son. That one that not only covered the physical aspects that he also shared with his brother Bill, but also on other much deeper levels.
She knew that his father, in an effort to raise a progeny that seemed to have been gifted with a stomach that was as voracious as a black hole, had been forced not to devote as much time to it as he would have liked, and so, Ron had been raised basically by his mother, Percy and the twins. . .
"If the way they are used to behaving with him could be called raising," she snorted under her breath as she thought, how much of Ron's insecure and explosive personality was the responsibility of that pair of troublemakers. The point was, when Mr. Weasley was partially relieved of that burden after the emancipation of the two older sons, he had tried to make up for that loss of attention by devoting more of his scarce free time, and had taken him to watch his first quidditch match with the Cannons, from which the redhead's eternal love for the lousy team, emerged.
But Hermione had found many other similarities. Both were brave, though they tried to avoid direct confrontation, noting in common to evil or any temptation to try to abuse any situation of privilege, nevertheless they were fierce when it came to defending what they understood to be right.
Immersed in her thoughts, her legs led her to her sanctuary, that corner of the library that took her away from the usual hustle and bustle and allowed her to concentrate on her readings and the writing of her complex essays. The same corner whose window overlooked the quidditch pitch, from which, she furtively observed the training sessions of Gryffindor's team or, perhaps it would be better to say, the developments of one of the team's newest members.
As the smile insinuated itself on her face, Hermione could not help but reflect on how extraordinarily complex it was to understand Ronald Weasley.
Ron, sighed to herself. She really couldn't understand him! There seemed to be two of them and they alternated with each other in an unpredictable way.
Ron was loyal to a fault, but sometimes he seemed a little jealous of Harry's reputation. Most of the time he behaved like an insensitive fool and yet sometimes he surprised her with gestures of infinite tenderness. She could have the funniest talk with him and tell him all the places she planned to travel when she finished school, but it was mentioning Bulgaria and Ron seemed to turn into a manticore.
When he flew over the grounds of The Burrow, he seemed to be in perfect communion with his broom. She had been surprised to discover that sometimes the twins had suddenly thrown some quaffles at him and he would alter his flight to intercept them with an almost feline grace, but it was flying over the school pitch and he becoming into a nervous mess of hands and feet struggling to hold onto his broom, with an unsettling shade of green on his face.
For the most of the people, Ron was what could be defined like a lazy who was always behind in his schoolwork and unable to perform a spell correctly during class, but, the day after she helped him complete his homework or gave him a practical demonstration on it, he seemed to be able to perform it almost perfectly and, not even then! He seems to have a consistent line of behaviour at this point. Ron didn't seem to have the slightest interest in learning basic glamour spells, how transfiguring a rat into a chalice or making a potion to cure warts, and yet, he was perfectly capable during DA’s training, of transfiguring a cushion of The Room of Requirement into a solid block of solid stone to ward off a spell cast by Harry, while he counter-attacking him by throwing impedimenta spell that caused Harry to retreat ten yards.
And in spite of all that crazy, absurd, unrealistic and incomprehensible double personality she loved him. Oh my God, how she loved him! She couldn't understand it, but it was the truth and she knew it wasn't a young girl's crush, it was something else. She could see his faults and the weaknesses of his personality that he should try to correct, such as insecurity in himself and eternal self-comparison with his brothers and in spite of everything. . . there it was. The blurred sketch of the formidable man he was destined to become just by trying it from the bottom of her heart. A man who would make any woman's heart tremble like, he already did her own.
She was deep in thought about the irritating redhead when she discovered a parchment note carelessly folded in front of the seat she used to occupy in the library.
She opened it out of curiosity, recognizing the sloppy handwriting of the object of her tribulations as she began to read it. . .
"So, what's a teaspoon?"
As they moved along the lines of the writing, her eyes widened meanwhile one of her hands went over her chest in an unconscious attempt to calm the rampant galloping of her heart that seemed to have gone mad with the careless lines of writing.
“...To seem happy, sad, haughty, understated,
emboldened, fugitive, exasperated...”
It seemed that the world had been turned upside down and where once there was a mindless lout with the same sensitivity as a teaspoon, now there was someone who had been able to correctly interpret the verses her mind was slipping on. But that was inconceivable to Ron.
He... he really can't have been able to show me this, she thought as she began to reread thinking that she was being part of some kind of joke or enchantment the twins had left behind. A joke or a spell that should perhaps be called cruel because of all it was doing to feel to her.
To be fainthearted, to be bold, possessed, abrasive, tender, open, isolated, spirited, dying, dead, invigorated, loyal, treacherous, venturesome, repressed.
Not to find, without your lover, rest. To seem happy, sad, haughty, understated, emboldened, fugitive, exasperated, satisfied, offended, doubt-obsessed.
To face away from disillusionment, to swallow venom like liqueur, and quell all thoughts of gain, embracing discontent;
to believe a heaven lies within a hell, to give your soul to disillusionment; that’s love, as all who’ve tasted know too well.
“Ro... Ron!” The exclamation escaped like a whisper from her lips while her legs seemed to waver when she completed the last line. . .
“I do”
Hermione dropped into the chair at the impending failure of her legs to hold her as the crying made its way through her chest to replace her breath with an incoherent set of hiccups and sobs meanwhile she pressed the parchment to her chest.
No. Ron Weasley was not the callous wart she had said, nor was the imbecile with the emotional range of a teaspoon. No, Ron was just a normal teenager in constant confusion because of the tide of hormones circulating in his blood, the emotional overload of facing feelings whose intensity she herself knew very well, the recognition of the darkness that was approaching, and right now, the boy who feared for his father's life and who would put under a thick shell all the pain and all the terror that his heart harboured for, with an apparent indifference to avoid further anguish to his family during these times of tribulation, just as he did in the second year, when he went into the forbidden forest with Harry.
But, above all, Ron was her friend. The friend who needed her now more than ever, and as she began to write a letter to her parents explaining why she couldn't stay with them for the Christmas break, she couldn't help but notice the tremor in her hand and how her knuckles went white clutching her quill when one simple question seeped into her head:
Who- the hell- had taught Ronald Bilius Weasley what love was?
Notes: My infinite and sincere thanks and affection to @headcanonsandmore. Without their help, it would have been impossible for me to write this text in understandable English.

I would like to say, the inspiration for this work came after having a delicious chat with the author of the fic "Books" by @fightfortherightsofhouseelves ( You can find her work here in AO3).
https://archiveofourown.org/works/14771213
Obviously, the reference poem is not mine. I wish! The author is the Spanish poet Lope de Vega. Possibly the quill who has best expressed the feelings of love through its verses in universal poetry. The English translation was done by David Rosenthal.

@parselheir and I are weak and need more Tomarry in our life :P
Tom walked up to Harry, corporeal at last now that he used Harry to murder some random death eater for his use. As he drank in the sight of his beloved covered in blood from the top of his head to his shoes (Tom didn’t have to be that sloppy, but he was bored and it showcased just how far he was willing to go to protect Harry), he couldn’t help but feel a strange duality in emotions: pride and attraction upon seeing Harry covered in blood that wasn’t his, and an instant spike of fear and need to protect him from anything that tries to so much as look at him.
The gap between them was finally closed and Tom knelt down on the ground beside Harry. He grabbed one of Harry’s blood-soaked hands with both of his and gently, as though Harry would shatter in a given second, kissed the knuckles. “Thank you for this. It means the world to me that you’d help me like you did, and now I can take care of you and you’ll never have to worry about any of this again.”
@cursed-and-chosen
At first, things had been harmless. Answers for a test he hadn't studied for appearing on the sheet in Harry's own handwriting, aunt Petunia giving him less and less chores, uncle Vernon letting him join them on their family outings without yelling at him first.
Life was getting easier and Harry found himself reveling in the comfort of what had to almost be normalcy, the kind of normalcy wizards – not Muggles – tended to appreciate.
What he didn't know, however, was that there was no sudden flash of genius behind his correct answers, no change of heart behind his relatives' changing behavior. Neither his teachers nor his relatives would tell him that from time to time, his eyes would almost look red for a moment, that they'd look older, harder, and that there were strange happenings whenever the changes occurred.
And his demeanor... one moment, he was bracing himself for the impact of Dudley's fist, the next, his bulky cousin was cowering before him and trembling in fear- all because of a single glare.
The first time he began to notice that something was wrong, all of his former bullies were already avoiding him, not even daring to cross his path, and as much as he tried to, Harry couldn't remember why.
And the dreams he started to have... There was Cedric's death, of course, being chained to Voldemort's father's grave marker, having his blood spilled for his nemesis' revival. But all of a sudden, there was a voice as well. 'Mine,' it would say as though in outrage, enunciating each and every syllable. 'He. Is. Mine.'
Harry knew that voice. And every time he heard it, he'd kill one of his enemies with his bare hands.
The next time he woke up, he was no longer in his bed and immediately, he started to panic, his eyes darting around frantically as he tried to map out his surroundings. He wasn’t in Hogwarts, that much was obvious, but he wasn't in front of the mysterious door he kept seeing either. Was he still asleep? If so, then why did the blood on his hands feel so sticky and real; why did a metallic, yet slightly sweet smell enter his nostrils – a smell that had never been present in his dreams before?
When he saw the mangled body and the tall handsome figure next to it, reality came crashing down on him all at once and he was frozen in place as Tom Marvolo Riddle approached him and pressed a gentle kiss to his knuckles.
“Why?-” was all he could command his hoarse voice to say as he sank to the ground, both, hands and body starting to shake and tears to leak from haunted eyes, and violent sobs escaped chapped lips.
What had he done to deserve this?

This went down hill but I thought you all deserved something. I’m working on a second part to my Elijah Mikaelson series but I’m not making promises it’ll be posted soon. School holidays are coming up in 2 weeks and I’ll try and get more down than. Happy Easter.
To the people of London, today was inconsequential. When the barista at your favourite coffee shop gave you your drink, there was no pity in his practiced smile. When a woman ran into you on the street, there was no sorrow in her eyes. When your coworkers greeted you, there was no hatred in their voices, to them it was just another day, another day of work, another day to mark off their calendars when they arrived home to their families that night. Nobody thought much of today, it was just another Wednesday. But you knew if you went to the little pub on Charing Cross road, the one with the wooden cauldron hanging above the door, if you went out the back and tapped the right bricks in the right order than you would find another world, a world with funny dressed people, all of which wore somber expressions on their faces, becuase today wasn’t another day to them.
Today was May 2nd, and nobody in London cared, except you.
Your heart was torn in two. A part of you wanted to continue, act like this day held no meaning, as if lives weren’t lost and destroyed today because of the monster you shared blood with, that it was all a horrible dream that you had during your youth. That was why you were here, not there. Here, the name Riddle didnt earn you heated glares, it held no more importance than the name Potter, it was nothing. You needed the normalacy of a muggle life, and that is what you got, a job you didnt have to deceive people for, friends who didnt fear you, neighbours who waved at you each morning as you left your nice house. You were free from your father, nobody cowered away from you here, nor did they obey your every command. But there was one thing missing, one thing you could not easily replace, him.
Placing you under the protection of Draco Malfoy was the single good thing your father had ever done for you. He believed sending you to Hogwarts would make you a bigger asset, so he sent you to the school with a single mission; help him destroy Harry Potter. Of course, him being sorted into the house of his father and you being sorted into the house of yours did not help you become close to the boy who lived, in fact he quite hated you, even though you weren’t using your father’s name. You didnt hate Potter, you pitted him for all he had to go through and such a young age, but he hatred for all Slytherins, even if they had done nothing towards him or his friends, caused a dislike for him to grow. This brought you and Draco closer.
Draco knew who you were, of course. At first he acted respectful, partially due to the fear of the Dark Lord his father had instilled in him, but soon enough the two of you became friends, the Prince and Princess of Slyhterin (nicknames you never let your father hear).
Voldemort was back, Cedric Diggory killed by his faithful man servant, Peter Pettigrew, Harry Potter was right but ignorant minds marked him as a liar. This was the year of Umbridge, the sickly pink toad that even Slytherins hated, Dumbledore’s Army had been created, the few who believed in Harry’s story followed him, as he taught in the absence of a real defense against the dark arts teacher. This was the time i hated being me the most, a Slytherin, hated by Potter therefore stuck learning form the cat lady, and Voldemort’s child, now that he was back, he was more vocal than ever, constantly reminding me of what i had to do; help him destroy Harry Potter. It most certainly didnt help that my so called protector/ best friend was wondering the halls, looking for Potter under the command of a toad.
“Tell me what’s wrong.”
Turning away from the underwater veiw of the Slytherin common room, i looked at Draco. His white hair, usually slicked back was now in soft waves, shirt untucked, silver and green tie hanging loosely around his neck, normally smug lips downturned in a frown as his grey eyes swam with concern and exhaustion, he had probably just finshed his rounds.
“What ever could be wrong Draco? My life is just unicorns on rainbows pooping candy.”
Draco smiled slightly at your sarcastic tone, shaking his head in amusement as he sat down next to you. His arms wrapped around your waist, a gesture that wasn’t uncommon between the two of you, and he pulled your cold body into his warm one.
“Why are you always so sarcastic?’
“Sarcasm is the body’s defence against stupidity.”
Draco sat straight, pulling you completely on his lap. His chin nuzzled into your neck, smelling the perfume he had chosen and given to you last year on your birthday. He smiled.
“Are you calling me stupid?”
His tone was light hearted, barely containing a laugh, so you knew he didn’t take offence. Grinning, you decided to play along. This was the side of the Slytherin Prince that so few got to see, a side that, not to your knowledge, only came out when you are in his presence.
“You are by far the stupidest person i have ever met, and I know Crabbe and Goyle.”
"Are you trying to make me hate you?"
He couldnt hold back his laugh this time. A hearty laugh. The two of you laughed together, so long for something so stupid, but neither of you cared. Whipping a tear from your eye, you leant back into Draco’s chest, giving into the peace it provided you. Draco’s laugh died down to a few chuckles, a grin plastered on his face. You looked back at him.
“I hate you.”
“No, you dont. You love me."
Something inside Draco snapped. He loved you, he knew he did and seeing you in his arms, a happy glowsurrounding you, his heart rose to his throat and he finally got the courage to speak the three words stuck on the tip of his tongue since the day he met you.
“(Y/n), I do lo-“
“Don’t say you love me.”
Those words echoed in his mind. His grey eyes instantly turned cold, his heart building walls around itself. You could see his pain, you had known him longer enough to know his tells and your heart broke at the pain he was feeling in that moment. Turning yourself around, you clasped his hand tightly in your own. Draco looked away, feeling the tears beginning to burn his eyes. He couldn’t let you see. Cupping his check softly, you turned his face to yours, tears reflecting in each others eyes.
“I’m not somebody you should fall in love with Draco. I cant protect you. If my father were ever to find out-“
"He won’t find out."
Draco’s voice was loud, making you grateful that you were alone in the common room. Passion blazed behinds as he took your cheeks in his hands. His heart was beating through his chest. He was afraid of your father, but he refused to live another day that he could not call you his own.
“I love you (y/n). Just say it back, we can find a way to make this work. Please”
Your mouth opened. How could you say it? Telling Draco you loved him would seal his fate, if your father ever found out he wouldn’t kill Draco, he would destroy him. He had no idea what your father was truly capable of. But staring at the boy you loved, seeing him so raw, pleading for you to say those three simple words, how could you not?
It didnt last. Your love was doomed from the beginning, you knew this. Draco and you spent two years together, filled with bliss and hardships. It all ended five years ago today. The battle had be won, your father was dead and everybody knew who you were. Some people protected you, but most wanted you to pay for your father’s crimes.
You ran that day, into the forbidden forest until you could run anymore. Harry found you on the ground, sobbing and covered in scratches and bruises. He walked towards you slowly, cautious of the wand you had pointed at him. With his hands held above his head, he made you an offer. Leave. If you left the wizarding world, he would do his best to secure your safety. You agreed.
Five years had past and not a single day went by when Draco didn’t cross your mind. Leaving him that day had been your biggest regret. You sat at home, watching the rain fall, the burning wood in your fireplace keeping you warm. If you closed you eyes you could almost image Draco's arms around you as you both sat in the Slytherin common room that night. Draco was alive, and yet everyday you mourned him, your heart yearned to see him just one more time. Your gaze drifted to the fire.
In Malfoy Manor Draco sat alone. The leather chair in which he sat was uncomfortable but Draco couldn’t bring himself to move, not even to relight the fire, the only source of light and heat in the dark house, a house too big for one man. Every day since you had died he felt numb. He wouldn’t let himself feel happy without you, not even his beloved mother could get him to smile. Now he mourns her as he mourns you. He couldn’t even bring himself to cry.
The sudden source of light burned his eyes. People rarely visited Draco. Sometimes Harry and the other members of the golden trio would visit, out of guilt more than anything else he assumed. But they wouldn’t be here tonight, Draco liked to mourn alone, and they should be mourning their losses with their families. Beleiving the worse, Draco sent a curse in the direction of his fireplace, not noticing the female figure the emerged from the flames.
"Have you lost your damn mind? Lumos."
The light from your wand illuminated the room. It took a few seconds for Draco's eyes to adjust but he knew that voice. Draco’s wand dropped to the floor. He couldn’t take your eyes from you, afraid to blink. You looked so real but Draco refused to believe it was truly you.
"Draco."
You moved towards him slowly, worried. Your hands touch his shoulder lightly once you met him, sliding them up to cup his cheeks. He puts his hand over yours, pressing firmly against it, feeling your skin on his. You were real and for the first time in years, Draco cried.
"I thought you were dead."
Draco pulled away from you, keeping his arms around your waist, not willing to let go. He looked pale, thin. It was obvious that he hadn’t been taking care of himself. Your thumb rubbed his cheek slowly.
"I know. I made a mistake but I can promise you, I’m never leaving again."

Now here is the thing... Marielle came here to actually find out what Dingo is after - AND to be with him, as she said herself, but that is not the point here - but Dingo is after A (short for Almata) and obviously does not want to drag Marielle into this, as it is very dangerous (as proven later when he meets his untimely end...) so he shock her off, which made her run around aimlessly in order to find him. That lead to her witnessing how Shaheena was kidnapped and naturally she tried to help her and got kidnapped too. In a sense, if Dingo had NOT avoided her, she would likely be in less trouble now.
HOWEVER... were is her luck now, huh? I mean, the only luck she always seems to have is that Dingo comes running as her knight in shining armor XD
He tries so hard to be like Olivert but this scene is one of the many reasons why he will always fail in the end. The fandom does not call him "discount prince Olivert" for nothing. He is a cheap excuse of a prince then can NEVER even come close to what Olivert is. He would have handled a situation like that totally differently even with all the things that come into play here.
A mistake Olivert never would have made. But here is the difference. Olivert traveled around incognito to see the world and met the people there, to learn about them and understand them. This guy travels around as a high and mighty prince, his bodyguard ever at the ready (something Olivert often avoided even tho it did somewhat endanger him...) and judges people by their employer and whatever else seems to be amiss at first glance. He doesn't care about learning about people or the world or get out of his comfort-zone as prince and this not just makes him someone who will NEVER archive Oliverts greatness, but also shows his princley arrogance which would put him more on the same level as Cedric at this point - he grows over the curse of the Calvard-Arc of course, but as of right now, he perfectly shoes that as much as he tries, he will never have much in common with Olivert aside from a title and the fact that he somewhat does not act very princely from time to time - but even here Olivert beats him by a mile XD
Honestly, I do not wish to get back to the shipping-war or anything but... thinking of the fact that Elaine and Van knew each other since childhood and yet Agnes, who knows him barely a few weeks, is so much better in understanding him and reading him and knowing how his personality works. I totally get that with Elaine, her emotions are putting the breaks on, on some of the things she surely could see if she wasn't blinded by those emotions, but considering that Agnes is 8 years younger and thus lacks the maturity and experience Elaine has, it still is putting into question if Agnes isn't the better one for Van, simply because of how easy it is for her to understand him compared to Elaine.
*achem* I am sorry for that, but this is something the game makes sure you see and understand time and time again.
BACK to that discount prince... he snapped his finger to get his bodyguard into action, like she is a cheap servent. Olivert would never do this with Mueller. He doesn't see them as his bodyguard. He is as much his friend as he is part of his family and he never would have to fight on command.
"The lakeys", huh? Olivert would never look down on Vans assistance. Prince Sharid has only himself to blame for the fact that Olivert is so beloved within the fandom and he get called "discount prince Olivert" not people do not even care to give him the courtesy to kill him by his own name. After this first impression, he well deserved to be treated like that.
Fie... sweethearts... I know your Bracer job tells you to stop them... but couldn't you not have called Van first to mop the floor with that discount bodyguard/assistant, first? Just so I can actually stick my tongue out at them? XD
Awwwww. He is actually relieved. Isn'tr that cute? ♥
(WHY FALCOM?! YOU HAD A PERFECTLY FINE SIDE-SHIP IN WHAT IS OTHERWISE A SHIPPING-HELL. SO WHY DID YOU TAKE IT AWAY FROM ME?! T.T)
Never a dull moment in this game XD Seriously tho, we just came back from saving two kidnapped woman. Now we are searching for another missing one. Its almost a bit ridiculous at this point. Tho obviously the timing was perfect for this, so I get it... it just sounds a bit... you know... like all we do is save Damsels in distress ^^' (And it is usually not a thing Falcom does. Our girls usually are doing just fine without our help... but I guess it does serve a purpose here.)
Yesterday I had a talk with someone about character development and I think Director Gotti here has come a long way too. He started out as that pervert and its not like he lost that part EVER BUT this man who thinks everything is about sexappeal planned in Kai on making a film about the losses of what happened in Creil and he wanted it to be serious and give the dead people some justice with that film. Obviously, this scene with Shaheena already showed that this man is more than just sex, action and big boobies, but I think that last scene with him in Kai was the moment you realized what an amazing person he actually is and how far he has come over those 3 games.
Lets me tell you that I did not talk to many NPCs this time, while in my playthrough with the spreadsheet I did and last time it was easy breezy to see those Orbal Hookahs were the problem, this time... I hardly noticed anyone having them to begin with. So technically, there is some use to speaking to more NPCs. (But this game would never end if you do that XD)
Not at all! I need some "spirit of class 7" with me today - actually, every day, but I get that you are busy XD
You could clearly hear that the mans throat was cut in the way he screamed and so Van decided to NOT bring Agnes along, this time. She has seen enough people who were cruelly murdered for a lifetime at this point. Especially for a seemingly innocent 16-year-old girl. It also part of Van being protective of her. He losens up in that regard in Kuro 2 tho, as you could clearly see by then that she had grown enough to see what needs to be seen and has proven that she deserves to stand by his side, if that is what she wanted, no matter the situation. (Vans little "I am doing that all on my lonesome" - gigs aside XD)
Because MY Bracers (unlike people like Elaine...) usually say "Screw the rules, we have people to save!" XD And THAT is why I love them... and don't like Elaine. Because if your highest priority is saving civilians then that is what comes even after the question if the faster and best way to save them is legal or not.
I still stand with what I said last time, it was a rookie-mistake of Fie to let her go alone. BUT in her defence (not sure if I WOULD defend her if she wasn't part of Class7 tho XD) it was a loooooong and hard day. The drive to Tarbad takes a while and she just arrived when she already head out again into the fucking desert to stop the discount prince from doing something stupid with our Van. And right after that, all hell broke lose and then we were in that underground dungeon and... you know... give my poor girl a break! HOWEVER... it still was a rookie mistake XD
Didn't he say he only ALMOST smoked that stuff?
I need to take a short break to eat...

merlin fic rec list - starter pack
@trueloveorsomething told me she’s never really read a merlin fic and my heart, that is still stuck in the blissful ignorance of november 2012, couldn’t accept that. I promptly told her I would make her a starter pack of some of my favorites and completely forgot about it until she reminded me like, an hour ago. So sorry bout that. Rina puts up with so much of my shit and deserves a nice fic rec list considering I call drunk call her at 4am and she still answers.
SO HERE’S A REC LIST THAT IS VERY LATE AND TOO LONG ILY AND I HOPE THESE BEAUTIFUL MERTHUR FICS SOMEHOW CONVEY THAT
For Your Information by reni_days (ao3 no longer available)
Summary:
Merlin sighs. "After your...announcement," he explains, "your father decided he needed a bit more information. Which is apparently where I come in. I'm sort of like his gay tutor, it's hard to explain."

Okay so this was one of my all-time favorite merlin fics because I HAVE NEVER READ A BETTER UTHER!! WHO IS TRYING TO LOVE & UNDERSTAND HIS SON!!! But recently the fic was taken off ao3 and I was desolate for numerous days UNTIL I REALIZED that the author had still left up the original livejournal post from 2012. Wow. flashbacks. Anyways, this is def in my top five I adore it.

A Modern Manservant by Mamalazzer
Summary:
A modern magical comedy very loosely based on Ugly Betty. Publishing king Uther Pendragon has had enough of his playboy son seducing every female assistant he has ever had so he hires Merlin, a man he is sure Arthur will never sleep with. Merlin would be more insulted by this fact if he wasn’t so busy trying to juggle his duties, save Arthur's skin from ruthless fashionistas and keep his magic a secret at the same time. Expect appearances by oil-lathered knights, the occasional mad druid, a perverted Will and a mental caretaker who lives in the basement and keeps harping on about coins and destiny.
-
I honestly think about this fic constantly. I’ve been meaning to reread it for like, a month and my time has finally come. An Ao3 legend. Wow. I’m in awe of this fic. I love it so much. Please Read, I’m Begging.

Canon-divergence is one of my fav tags and this fic does it SO WELL! Also BAMF!Merlin bc OF COURSE and again, this fic just shows their relationship and Arthur’s inner struggles/thoughts so well as he deals with this ~~~mysterious~~~ mage. Wow. You’ll be screaming the whole time.

Arthur knows how to use words just as well as Merlin, and he knows about the magic.
-
One of the best character studies I’ve ever read. Also done by a fic legend, and it SHOWS. I never know how much i craved the tag “Smart!Arthur” bUT I DID! Also Morgana is my favorite. She needs more love.

Emrys Ascending by tricksterity
Summary:
In the depths of the Crystal of Neahtid, Merlin sees the resurrection of Lord Voldemort, an event that will tip the balance of the world so far out that only he has the power to intervene and set it right, or stop it from ever happening. For that, he'll have to pose as a student and attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
The only problem is, he's been chosen instead of Cedric Diggory as a Triwizard Champion, and there's a recently reborn Arthur Pendragon in Gryffindor House.
-
*lays out cards on table* you want some character development? Some of that good BAMF Merlin shit? Some of that reincarnation? Magic revealed? 100k+? A HOGWARTS AU? Have I got the SHIT FOR YOU! Pls scream about this fic w me.

Keep the Magic Secret by orphan_account
Summary:
For the prompt: Someone tells Arthur about the legends of Emrys, an all-powerful warlock whose destiny is to protect Arthur and his kingdom and help bring about an age of peace. He is told that Emrys is someone close to him, and has hidden his identity and trials over the years to protect himself and make sure he can continue on at Arthur's side. When Arthur asks who it is, the person turns to Arthur and shrewdly asks: "Arthur, who do you want it to be?" ... Arthur's mind automatically goes to Merlin.
-
ASDGL;DKLD WOW. I ADORE how the author wrote Arthur’s mindset, and the plot is so well done and fleshed out I’m totally obsessed. Wow. Such an intense slow burn I’m sure a small village went up in flames. Wow. Also, I love Gwen with my whole heart and this fic treats her RIGHT w/out ignoring her whole canon storyline. Great work!!!

All’s Well That Ends Well by StormDancer // @hurricanedancer
Summary:
Merlin spent the week and a half that Arthur was gone splitting his time between crafting careful explanations that never ended up explaining the important things, the things that would make Arthur listen, and making half-baked plans to escape to Ealdor. He found a number of fire-proofing spells that would have no effect if they decided to cut his head off, and figured out how to adapt an invulnerability spell he had been trying to find a way to cast on Arthur without him noticing so that it would protect him from being decapitated, but it would have no effect on anything but metal. Despite all his frantic searching, he did not find a teleportation spell, because that would have been too simple and if there was one thing Merlin had learned in his years at Camelot, it was that nothing was ever simple.
-
A classic magic revealed fic that handles emotion - both Merlin & Arthur’s - extremely well. I’m a big fan of this author, so check out their other works if you’re interested!

EVERY fandom has their own soulmarks fic AND THIS IS MERLIN’S WOW! I love it. I adore it. I’d frame it and put it above my bed if it wasn’t 4k words.

Summary:
When they were young, Arthur had gone running. Morgana discovered that early into her tenure at the Pendragons; shortly after the car crash, when she was swathed in a bed with silk sheets with the memory of Uther standing awkwardly in her doorway, old face creased with the vestiges of grief and uncomfortable concern for the fragile girl in his house.
-
I haven’t read this one yet - it’s next on my to-read list! - but it seriously looks SO GOOD and once again I LOVE MORGANA and plus there seems to be a somewhat sympathic Uther in this which, once again, I would die for.

Fathom Me Out by supercalvin // @supercalvin
Summary:
After ten years, Arthur thinks he has Merlin all figured out. But as he watches Merlin, he finds out that he has more questions than answers. The longer he thinks about it, the more uneasy he feels. So he pushes it aside. Except, he can no longer ignore the questions he has about Merlin.
Not your everyday reveal!fic.
-
Great character study & development and I loooove how the author writes their relationship. Also, it’s not required, but the prequel to this fic is also very very good and I highly rec it! Check it out here - Laundry’s Hard Work.

Summary:
Merlin's eyes scan the headline.
Arthur Pendragon reveals mark in attempt to find the one.
"I pity the guy who's unfortunate enough to get him as a soul mate.”
In which Arthur is a famous celebrity, Merlin is a beloved teacher, and they break Twitter once. Well, twice. Okay so it's a whole bunch of times actually but it's not their fault. Really it's not.
-
Read that description and try not to explode over your excitement for this fic. Really, I dare you. It’s such a good balance of fluff, plot, and soulmarks. Also, Merlin is a schoolteacher and if that doesn’t sell you on it I have nothing else to offer.

Until You Do (I’ll Bring You Tea and Honey) by TheAvalonian
Summary:
Modern AU: Everyone keeps assuming that Merlin and Arthur are together, so as a joke, they start pretending it's true. And then, suddenly, it is.
A story of giant teddy bears, meddling sisters, nonexistent homoerotic subtext (or is it?), and accidentally falling in love.
-
So much fluff you’ll get a toothache. The best Friends to Lovers fic I’ve ever read ever in my life. Wow. WOW. This tops the cake not only with a cherry but like, a hundred dollar bill (iDK WHAT'S BETTER THAN A CHERRY JUST DO W IT) READ THE FLUFF.

This was such a joy to read like, all the dialogue? Is SO GOOD. Also, I love Merlin so much in this fic wow. Omg. I’m in love with this fic and we’re getting married this weekend.

Modern AU. When Merlin Emrys gets a summer job at Buckingham Palace, he doesn't expect to even meet King Arthur, let alone become involved in protecting him from a plot to overthrow the monarchy.

I’m finishing off this list with a Merlin fandom CLASSIC. Admittedly, it took me a while to get around to reading this but by the time I was a few paragraphs in I was instantly wondered WHY bc it’s SO GOOD AND I WAS MISSING OUT SO MUCH. So much drama I was thriving. The plot? Perfection. Wow.

Arrow and Harry Potter
Arrow
my all-time ultimate fave character: Laurel Lance
a character I didn’t used to like but now do: I hated Quentin at first, and I lot of stuff he did/does I still don’t like but I’ve grown to appreciate his complexity and his dynamics with Laurel and Oliver. Of course now that Laurel’s dead he has like nothing to do so it’s just stupid.
a character I used to like but now don’t: Felicity was cute s1...she got on my nerves pretty quickly after that, though. I hate what Diggle has become. Like just look at him s1 compared to now and it’s just sad. I miss when Diggle was his own character.
a character I’m indifferent about: Can I just say any of the new recruits? Like, I just don’t care about any of them. At all. I didn’t start the show for them, I started for GA and BC, why is this so hard for the showrunners to grasp? I’m also pretty indifferent towards Sara, no lie. She’s just kind of there and then not and then there again. She drifts into the story and out and doesn’t really seem to have all that lasting of an impact. I mean she can literally be plucked from the timeline because she’s apparently of little enough importance history won’t miss her. And it totally undermined the whole “journey” aspect of characters when we met her and she was just insta-badass straight out of her new s2 packaging, now with 100% more blonde, some reshooting required. Maybe if they’d bothered to show her training--but that would have required them to actually show a wlw relationship and not just the angsty post-breakup stage so that wasn’t gonna happen. Like I don’t necessarily hate her but I don’t like her much either. She’s just kind of meh to me.
a character who deserved better: DINAH. LAUREL. LANCE.
a ship I’ve never been able to get into: O/F, Oliver/Sara, and lowkey Nyssa/Sara - Nyssa was always so much more invested than Sara from her first appearance to her last. Like you got her going on and on about her “beloved” and then Sara’s flirting it up and kissing people throughout time and space, the heck am I supposed to do with that? Also I haven’t liked Thea/Roy ever since Roy ditched her after sleeping together and left no forwarding address. Dick move, dude.
a ship I’ve never been able to get over: Lauriver, dear god, the beauty and the tragedy will haunt me forever
a cute, low-key ship: I liked Oliver and McKenna, I won’t lie. Moira and Walter were tragic but precious. Also if Tommy had lived I could’ve seen him and Helena having an interesting thing don’t judge me.
an unpopular ship but I still enjoyed it: Non-canon but I’m gonna go Lauryssa. Also Constantine/Oliver.
a ship that was totally wrong and never should have happened: O/F, when will these writers learn that ship destroyed both those characters
my favourite storyline/moment: I’m in that rare minority that loved s1 so much more than s2. S2′s where it started going wrong, the fridging women left and right, Slade’s shitty motivation for being bad--he’s a mercenary, for fuck’s sake, it does not need to be about a woman he loved and lost, it’s not complicated--retconning the flashbacks left and right, but s1 was so good. Also loved Laurel becoming BC though I never got why the writers needed to start her off at square one when they showed she could fight the previous two seasons.
a storyline that never should have been written: Basically the entire s4 plot. Magic and nukes are not GA’s thing. Also killing BC on a GA show is such bs. Real GA would have rather seen himself killed first.
my first thoughts on the show: Ok, this is interesting! The fight scenes are good, I want to see how these characters become more like their comic book counterparts.
my thoughts now: Well that sucked.
HP
my all-time ultimate fave character: Oh man, how can you do this to me? TOO MANY, OKAY? I HAVE TOO MANY.
a character I didn’t used to like but now do: Dudley is so much more interesting after book 7. I like the idea that he finally started to realize that his parents and their abuse towards Harry was shit. I know JKR decided to not give Dudley a magic child in the epilogue, but I wish she had. It would have been so nice to see Dudley break the cycle of abuse in the Dursley family once and for all by loving and supporting his kid no matter what.
a character I used to like but now don’t: I don’t know if I dislike him necessarily but I definitely don’t like him the way I used to as a kid - okay, yeah, it’s Dumbledore. I mean he is soooo complex, and that’s a good thing. But a lot of the stuff he did? Not cool.
a character I’m indifferent about: Basically a lot of the OCs that masquerade in fics as barely-mentioned students. It’s fine if you wanna use them, but it’s weird to me when people start purporting their characterizations of them as fact if that makes sense? To that end, I’m also mostly indifferent about all the next gen kids with the exception of Teddy (there’s just a lot there to his character that would be so interesting to unpack - why was Cursed Child not about Teddy Lupin with a better plot gdi).
a character who deserved better: So many characters tbh. Ginny Weasley deserved better from both JKR and all y’all. JKR promised an awesome moment having to do with her being the seventh child of a seventh child (Arthur) and then never delivered. Fandom is shitty to her because she gets in the way of their ships (like especially H/HR and H/D shippers seem to love to demonize a teenage girl in their fics, just saying) and because they seem to think Hermione is enough female rep which is such bs. Ron also deserves soooooo much better from fandom. So, so much better. Hagrid deserved to have one of Harry’s kids named after him. Sirius Black just deserved a better life. Snape deserved not to be abused as a child. Harry deserved like basically everything better. The Weasleys deserved not to be poor - do you see where I’m coming from here???
a ship I’ve never been able to get into: A lot of the non-canon ones (H/HR - she’s like a SISTER to him, he LITERALLY SAYS; H/D - It’s implied in that bathroom fight scene Draco was about to use the CRUCIATUS CURSE like WTF also he’s just kinda shitty to Harry and his friends almost the entire series just saying). Obviously if you wanna write AUs where things are completely different, that’s up to you, but they’re just not for me.
a ship I’ve never been able to get over: Jily, Hinny, Romione
a cute, low-key ship: Deanmus is the gay/bi rep we deserved, not unhealthy and possibly one-sided Dumbledore/Grindelwald. I feel like in book 5 at least Luna might’ve had a thing for Ron which is kind of adorable. Although I also like Ginny/Luna. Also I lowkey think Harry might’ve had a crush on both Cho and Cedric at the same time. Teenage years suck.
an unpopular ship but I still enjoyed it: I mean Romione seems to be unpopular with a lot of fandom but I love it so sucks to suck
a ship that was totally wrong and never should have happened: I’m pretty much ok on all the canon ships. I mean I wish JKR hadn’t tried to push this whole “Snape loved Lily” thing. More like “Snape was obsessed with Lily and never got over her”.
my favourite storyline/moment: ahhhhh I don’t know, maybe Ron coming back to save Harry and destroy the Horcrux.his insecurities? Such a great moment for his character, and his and Harry’s friendship. I also just love how Harry’s whole outlook on life completely brightened up in HBP during the time he was dating Ginny. It was so lovely to see him happy for once. And I love all of book three, it is my favorite. Also the Moody-is-really-Barty Jr. twist remains one of the greatest of All Time and the movies ruined it but I digress.
a storyline that never should have been written: Like I’m not saying it shouldn’t have been written, I just don’t like how Snape’s backstory has given rise to this idea that he did Nothing Wrong, Ever and it was Lily’s fault for ending the friendship that he turned to the Dark Side. Like fuck off, he was already there and it was not her job to be his “savior” when he sure as hell didn’t want saved. Also all the movies. Damn you, Kloves.
my first thoughts on the show books: This is such a great story and world! I love the characters and I can’t wait to see what happens next! (or something along those lines - I was young, okay?)
my thoughts now: While there’s certainly plenty of issues (lack of rep for many marginalized groups, for example) it still holds up as a really strong series. Must resist temptation to begin yet another reread.
